It is July 2026, and the 2027 furry convention calendar is already taking shape. Dates are locked in across three continents, from New Year's Day through the start of June. If you like to plan ahead (and if you have been to enough cons, you know that "planning ahead" is code for "booking hotels before the block fills"), this is your starting point.
The biggest story so far is February. Seven of the conventions we track run inside those 28 days, three of them on the same opening weekend. January is no slouch either, with JMoF, Further Confusion, and Anthro New England all landing in the first three weeks of the year. If you want to hit multiple events in early 2027, your calendar and your wallet will both need a strategy. For comparison, see how 2026 shaped up in our full-year audit.
Last updated July 2026. This post will be updated as more 2027 dates are announced.

Painted Desert kicks off the global calendar on New Year's Day for the second year running. After jumping from 1,412 to 2,064 attendees between 2025 and 2026, PDFC has proven that people will fly to Phoenix in January. The theme has not been announced yet, but the Sheraton Phoenix Downtown is confirmed as the venue again. If you want to start your con year on day one of the actual year, this is the only option.
Japan Meeting of Furries returns with "Lost in Transit - Adrift at Centrair," an airport-themed edition referencing Centrair (Chubu Centrair International Airport). The theme is literal: for 2027 the convention moves to the Aichi Sky Expo, the exhibition centre attached to the airport itself, rather than the Loisir Hotel Toyohashi it has used in recent years. After setting a record of 2,524 attendees in 2026 with the "Ocean's Furteen" theme, JMoF continues to grow as Japan's largest kemono convention. For international travelers considering the trip, check our guide to Asia-Pacific cons for logistics tips.

The FC-ANE overlap is back. In 2026, both ran on the same January weekend and forced attendees to choose between the West Coast and East Coast. The 2027 dates repeat that exact conflict: FC runs January 14-18 in San Jose while ANE runs January 14-17 in Boston. FC has announced "FC Land: The Wildest Ride in The Fandom" as its 2027 theme, ending its two-year run with "The Beach Episode." ANE has announced "Sleepytime!"
The 2026 numbers tell the story of what is at stake: FC drew 6,621 attendees, and ANE drew 7,284. These are not small conventions, and the overlap means vendors, artists, and performers must pick one. If you are traveling from outside the US, this is a coin-flip decision. For domestic attendees, geography usually makes the call. Read more about international travel planning for fursuiters if you are considering either.
Frosty Fur Fest enters its second year after debuting in February 2026 with the "Winter Wonderland" theme. The shift to late January gives it breathing room before the February rush. The convention also changes venue: the 2026 debut ran at the Crowne Plaza Executive Center, and 2027 moves to the Baton Rouge Marriott. Theme and details for 2027 are still TBA, but the Louisiana convention scene is now officially on the map.
Seven conventions in 28 days. That is the February 2027 situation, and it is going to force some tough choices. Here is how the month breaks down.
This is the most crowded single weekend on the 2027 calendar so far. Three conventions run at the same time across three continents:
One convention that used to sit on this weekend has moved out of it: AnthroExpo ran February 5-8 in 2026 and drew 1,867 attendees with its "Corporate Takeover" theme, but its 2027 edition jumps to May 27-30 with the "Maskfurade" theme. Oklahoma no longer opens the February block.
For most attendees, geography resolves the overlap. But for vendors and traveling suiters who work multiple continents, this weekend is a three-way split with no clean answer.
Furnal Equinox gets a weekend to itself in mid-February. This is a significant year for FE: it will be the first edition at the Sheraton Centre Toronto after years at the Westin Harbour Castle. The 2026 "Starbound Sabbatical" served as a farewell to the old venue, and the new location should give the convention room to grow past its recent attendance of around 3,700. The theme has not been announced. Toronto in February is genuinely cold, so plan your suiting and travel accordingly.
Capital Fur Con (Feb 18-21, Oxon Hill, MD) makes its debut at the Gaylord National Resort near Washington D.C. with the "Space Launch" theme. This is a 21+ only event, the first adults-only furry convention in the D.C. area. The Gaylord is a high-end venue with a glass atrium and Potomac River views. Three airports serve the area (DCA, IAD, BWI). It gets a clean weekend of its own, which is a real advantage for a first-year convention trying to build an audience.
The month closes with two conventions running at the same time:
This one splits along an ocean, so for most people geography settles it. The attendees it actually squeezes are vendors and traveling performers who work both the US and European markets, since NFC is the single biggest European weekend of the winter and Austin is a full transatlantic flight away.
These major conventions have not announced 2027 dates. Historical patterns suggest when they are likely to land, but nothing is confirmed.
| Convention | Typical Timing | 2026 Dates | Expected 2027 Window |
|---|---|---|---|
| Anthrocon | First weekend of July | Jul 2-5, 2026 | Early July 2027 |
| Eurofurence | Late August / early September | Aug 19-23, 2026 | Aug-Sep 2027 |
| Megaplex | Late August | Aug 21-23, 2026 | Late August 2027 |
| Biggest Little Fur Con | Mid-October | Oct 12-15, 2026 | Mid-October 2027 |
| Midwest FurFest | First weekend of December | Dec 3-6, 2026 | Early December 2027 |
Two names have come off this list since our last update: Furry Weekend Atlanta has confirmed May 6-9, 2027 with the "Grand Prix" theme, and ConFuzzled has confirmed May 28 to June 1, 2027 with "XXTREME Racing." Both are in the confirmed table above. When the rest announce, the second half of 2027 will fill in quickly: Anthrocon and Midwest FurFest alone drew over 35,000 attendees between them in 2025.
Even though 2026 is not finished yet (check our summer and fall 2026 guide for what is still coming this year), there are practical steps you can take now for 2027.
Hotel blocks open early for winter cons. January and February conventions tend to announce hotel blocks 6-8 months in advance. If you are targeting FC, ANE, NFC, or FurSquared, watch their social channels starting this summer. The February cluster means seven cons are competing for the same pool of travelers, so blocks may fill faster than usual.
Request time off for February now. If your workplace plans schedules quarterly, getting February 2027 dates on the books in mid-2026 is not premature. It is realistic. The first and last weekends of February are the critical windows.
Budget for the January-February stretch. Between Painted Desert on January 1 and Lone Star Fur Con ending February 28, the table above alone holds twelve conventions in under 60 days. Nobody is hitting all twelve, but attending two or three in this window is common. Start a con fund now and set a number before registration opens. Our con budgeting guide has a breakdown of typical costs.
Watch for Capital Fur Con registration. As a brand-new 21+ convention at a prestigious venue, CFC's debut will generate interest. Registration details and pricing have not been published, but the Gaylord National is not a budget property. Expect higher room rates than the typical con hotel. If this is your first convention, our first con survival guide covers what to pack and what to expect.
Pick your February side early. If you attend cons in both Europe and North America, the NFC vs. Lone Star clash on the last weekend of February is your key decision point. Check flight prices early and let the numbers help you decide.

View Full CalendarBoth conventions typically confirm dates 8-12 months in advance. Anthrocon tends to announce in the fall for the following July, and MFF usually confirms December dates by early summer. Check their official websites and social media for announcements, likely arriving in late 2026.
It depends on which ones. Furnal Equinox (Feb 13-15) and Capital Fur Con (Feb 18-21) each get a weekend to themselves, so either pairs cleanly with an early-month con like FurSquared or Scotiacon, or with NordicFuzzCon at the end of the month. Attending two cons on the same weekend is not feasible: the opening-weekend trio and the NFC-Lone Star clash involve different cities and countries.
Start with geography and budget. If two cons overlap and one is a short drive while the other requires a flight, the answer is usually clear. For equal-distance choices, consider what matters most to you: convention size, venue quality, theme, community, or where your friend group is heading. The FC vs. ANE decision, for example, often comes down to West Coast vs. East Coast friend groups.
As soon as convention hotel blocks open. For winter cons, that is typically 6-8 months before the event. Sign up for convention newsletters and follow their social media accounts to catch announcements. Booking within the con block gets you the negotiated rate and keeps you in the same building as the action. Once the block fills, nearby hotels charge standard rates.
Yes. As conventions announce their 2027 dates and themes, this calendar will be updated. Major announcements for FWA, Anthrocon, Eurofurence, MFF, and others will be added as they become available. Check back or follow FurryGuides for the latest.
