Further Confusion 2026 ran January 15-19 at the San Jose Convention Center, reporting 6,811 paid registrations and 6,621 badges printed. The convention raised $45,279 for The Street Dog Coalition, continuing its tradition as the opening event of the global convention calendar year.
The "Beach Episode" theme leaned into the classic anime trope with tropical decor throughout the venue, beach-themed dance competitions, and a relaxed summer-in-January atmosphere that contrasted with the Bay Area's chilly weather outside. The art show was juried as usual and drew strong submissions from professional-tier furry artists, and the dealers den filled out the convention center's main exhibition hall.
San Jose's downtown setting kept attendees within walking distance of the Marriott and Hilton hotels, with Critter Olympics, a fursuit parade, and an active room party scene rounding out the programming. FC's history of charity giving continued growing, with the 2026 total nearly doubling the 2024 figure of $23,576.
FC 2025 reached 6,499 attendees. The event supported LGBTQ Youth Space as its charity partner. We have not been able to source FC 2025's theme, so this entry deliberately leaves it out rather than guess.
The 2024 edition brought 5,276 attendees under the "Pixelated" theme. Further Confusion raised $23,576 for the Bill Wilson Center.

Anthropomorphic Arts and Education, the parent non-profit
Further Confusion is run by Anthropomorphic Arts and Education, Inc. (AAE), the registered non-profit that owns the convention. AAE is named in every page footer of furcon.org, and FC was the first and remains the flagship event AAE has sponsored.
Fursday Night at The Tech (the science-museum kickoff)
Debuting in 2026, Fursday Night at The Tech is an exclusive after-hours buyout of The Tech Interactive, the world-class science and technology center directly across San Carlos Street from the San Jose Convention Center, the Thursday evening before FC officially opens.
Seven-hotel block, ranked-preference lottery decoupled from tier
Few US furry cons run a contracted hotel block as wide as FC's. Seven hotels participate: the two attached host properties (Hilton San Jose and San Jose Marriott), four nearby downtown options (Hyatt Place, Westin, Signia by Hilton, AC Hotel by Marriott, all within a few blocks of the convention center), and the airport-area DoubleTree by Hilton. Only the DoubleTree gets shuttle service in 2026 (Fri-Sun 9 AM-2 AM, Thursday 3-11 PM reduced, wheelchair-accessible); the other six are walk-only thanks to San Jose's compact downtown footprint.
