Why BLFC is held inside a casino, and the rules that come with it
BLFC is one of the only major furry conventions held inside an active casino-resort. The Grand Sierra Resort & Casino in Reno is both the host hotel and the convention venue, which gives BLFC its trademark amenity stack: an Infinity Pool, multiple jacuzzis, a bowling alley, a movie theater, restaurants, and a 24/7 casino floor all under one roof.
The anime-con handoff: how BLFC started as PawFur
Most furry conventions are founded by furries from the ground up. BLFC is the rare exception: the seed was planted when a Reno-local anime convention called SnafuCon approached the future BLFC organizers to help run a one-off furry event called PawFur, then handed the furry programming off because running two cons in one year was too much for one team.
Three stages, no headliners, and a Pool Party every night
BLFC''s music programming runs four straight nights across three stages with no headliner system: a full-production Main Stage, a Pool Party at the Grand Sierra Resort''s Infinity Pool with DJs on chill rotation from 8:30 PM to 12:30 AM, and Dance ''Til Dawn starting at 2 AM Thursday morning and running until 7 AM. The convention publishes the line on its DJ page directly: "We consider all DJ slots at BLFC to be ''prime'' slots. We do not have ''headliners.''"
