How Do I Get to Galactic Camp?

Alameda is an island city in the San Francisco Bay Area:

• Flying: San Francisco International Airport (SFO) and Oakland International Airport (OAK) both serve the Bay Area. OAK is closer, about 15 minutes from Alameda by car. SFO is about 30 minutes via I-880.
• Transit: AC Transit buses serve Alameda from Oakland. The USS Hornet Museum is located at the former Naval Air Station on Alameda Point, at the western tip of the island.
• Driving: From I-880, cross into Alameda via the Park Street Bridge or the Posey/Webster tubes. The museum is at the end of Ferry Point on Alameda Point.

Where Should I Stay for Galactic Camp?

• USS Hornet (Overnight): Up to 400 attendees can sleep overnight aboard the aircraft carrier itself, camping in the ship's berthing compartments. This is a unique experience but requires bringing your own sleeping bag.
• Alameda Hotels: For those who prefer a conventional bed, Alameda has hotels and motels along the island. Hotels in nearby Oakland also work well given the short drive.
