Theme

Galactic Camp is held aboard the USS Hornet, a World War II aircraft carrier docked in Alameda, California, now operating as the USS Hornet Sea, Air and Space Museum. The 2025 edition drew 500 attendees and raised $16,500 for SeaLife Response + Rehab + Research. Up to 400 attendees can sleep overnight on the ship itself.

The Venue IS The Theme

Unlike traditional conventions that drape their venues in rotating decorations, Galactic Camp uses the USS Hornet's steel structure and hangars as a permanent sci-fi/military aesthetic.

The programming reflects the setting, featuring dance stages, furry bars, and access to official ship history tours through the carrier's engine rooms, weapons systems, and flight deck. For its May 29-31, 2026 run, the convention will allow up to 400 attendees to sleep overnight onboard the ship.

Museum Partnership

Operated by a dedicated 501(c)(3) charity team, Galactic Camp aligns its weekend with the USS Hornet's educational mission. Returning from hiatus in 2025, the convention continues to offer one of the more distinctive venue experiences in the fandom.
