Acceptance of Terms

By accessing, browsing, or otherwise using FurryGuides ("the website," "we," "us," or "our"), you accept and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.

A link to these Terms appears on every page of this site. Your continued use after that notice, and after any change to these Terms, is your acceptance of them. If you use the site repeatedly, access it by automated means, or use it in the course of a business, you are on notice of these Terms and accept them through that pattern of use.

Who You Are Agreeing With

FurryGuides is operated by Main Media LLC, a limited liability company organised under the laws of the State of Wyoming, United States. References to "we," "us," and "our" in these Terms mean that company. Our full address appears at the end of this page.

Eligibility

The site is written for a general audience, but it is not built for young children. You must be at least 13 years old to use it. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use the site only with the involvement of a parent or guardian, who accepts these Terms on your behalf. If you use the site for an organisation, you confirm you are allowed to accept these Terms for it.

Description of Service

FurryGuides provides information, guides, tools, and directory services related to the furry fandom. Our content includes:

Acceptable Use

Permitted Uses

  • Reading and sharing our guides and articles

Prohibited Uses

  • Copying or redistributing our content without permission
  • Using automated tools to scrape our website
  • Attempting to hack, disrupt, or damage our services

  • Posting or sharing inappropriate content
  • Impersonating another person, a convention, a maker, or us
  • Submitting deliberately false information, fake corrections, or malicious reports about another community member
  • Harvesting handles, contact details, or images of individuals from the site
  • Overloading the site with automated requests or interfering with anyone else's use of it
  • Probing, scanning, or testing the security of the site without our written permission, or circumventing any access control
  • Uploading anything containing malware, or using our tools to process unlawful material
  • Using the site or its content in any way that breaks the law where you are

These rules exist to keep the site usable and the community safe. We may investigate suspected breaches, and we may block access, remove content, or report serious matters to the appropriate authorities. We do not need to warn you first, though in practice we usually will.

Content and Community Standards

FurryGuides maintains SFW (Safe for Work) standards across all content:

  • All content is appropriate for general audiences
  • We do not host, link to, or promote adult content
  • Community interactions should be respectful and inclusive
  • We reserve the right to remove inappropriate content

Directory Listings

Our creator directory includes community-recommended makers and artists:

  • Listings are provided as a community service
  • We do not guarantee accuracy of listing information
  • Commission details may change - always verify with creators
  • We are not responsible for transactions between users and creators

Tools and Utilities

Our online tools are provided free of charge:

  • Tools are provided "as is" without warranties
  • Files you open in them are processed in your own browser and are not uploaded to or stored by us
  • Anything else we handle is covered by our Privacy Policy
  • Use tools at your own risk and discretion
  • Commercial use requires separate permission

Intellectual Property

The content on FurryGuides is protected by copyright:

  • Original articles and guides are our intellectual property
  • You may share links and excerpts with proper attribution
  • Substantial copying or republishing requires permission
  • User-generated content remains the property of its creators

Editorial Independence and Discretion

FurryGuides is an independent publication. What appears on it, and what does not, is our editorial decision. We are not an official body of the furry fandom, we do not speak for any convention, and no convention, maker, artist, vendor, or brand has the right to dictate our coverage of them.

We reserve the right, at our sole discretion and at any time, to:

  • Decide which conventions, events, creators, tools, and products are listed, and in what order or ranking
  • Add, edit, rewrite, correct, reorganise, unpublish, archive, or permanently delete any page or listing
  • Decline to publish anything sent to us, without giving a reason
  • Change how a listing is presented, described, categorised, or scored
  • Add, change, or remove any feature, tool, or section of the site, or discontinue the site entirely
  • Restrict or block access where we reasonably believe the site is being misused

Being listed here is not a right, not a contract, not an endorsement, and not something anyone can purchase. Removal from a listing is not a statement about anyone's character. We may remove a listing simply because it is out of date, unverifiable, or no longer a good fit for the site.

Opinion, Review, and Comment

Reviews, rankings, comparisons, recommendations, editorial commentary, and any assessment of quality or value published on this site are statements of opinion. They reflect our honest judgement based on the information available to us at the time of writing, and they are offered as commentary on matters of interest to the community we write for.

We separate fact from opinion deliberately. Where we state a fact, we source it, and our sourcing standards require a primary source rather than rumour or hearsay. Where we express a view, it is presented as a view, based on disclosed facts that a reader can check and disagree with. Honest criticism, unfavourable comparison, and the decision not to recommend something are all protected expression, and we intend to keep exercising it.

This site publishes on matters of public interest to the community it serves. Conventions sell tickets to thousands of people, makers and vendors take money from members of the public, and readers rely on candid information before spending theirs. Commentary of that kind is exactly what constitutional and statutory protections for speech and petition exist to cover, and we will invoke every protection available to us, including applicable anti-SLAPP statutes and their fee-shifting provisions, against any action brought to punish or deter it. Complaints framed as something other than defamation, such as tortious interference or business disparagement, are treated the same way when their substance is a complaint about our speech.

That said, we would far rather be accurate than merely defensible. If we have published something about you or your organisation that is factually wrong, tell us and we will check it against the evidence. Where we got a fact wrong we will correct it promptly and visibly, and we will note what changed rather than editing quietly. Corrections go to [email protected]. A disagreement with an opinion is not a factual error, and we will say so politely, but we will always look at the evidence you send.

Community Safety Listings

Some parts of this site collect publicly reported community safety information, including warnings the community has raised about specific accounts or sellers. These pages carry particular caveats and you should read them carefully:

  • They aggregate reports made publicly by others. They are not our findings, not accusations by us, and not proof of anything.
  • We cannot and do not adjudicate disputes between community members, verify every claim, or determine who is telling the truth.
  • An entry is not a legal finding of guilt. Treat it as a prompt to do your own research before sending anyone money.
  • If you are named and believe an entry is wrong, outdated, or resolved, write to us. We will review it and will remove or annotate entries that we cannot stand behind.

Always exercise your own judgement, use payment methods with buyer protection, and verify anyone you commission independently.

Material on these pages originates with third parties and is not our speech. We reproduce what others have publicly reported. We do not author it, we do not adopt it, we do not verify it, we do not endorse it, and we do not vouch for its accuracy. As an interactive computer service carrying information provided by other content providers, we rely on the protections of 47 U.S.C. section 230, which apply both where we leave third party material in place and where we choose to remove it. Screening, declining, annotating, or deleting an entry is an exercise of that discretion and never converts somebody else's report into a statement by us.

Any dispute about the truth of a report lies between the person who made it and the person it concerns. If you believe a report about you is false, your remedy is against its author, though we will still review, annotate, or remove entries we cannot stand behind.

Removal and Takedown

We take removal requests seriously and we act on them without demanding that you first prove a legal entitlement. If content on this site concerns you, your photograph, your artwork, your handle, your business, or your convention, write to [email protected] and tell us what you would like removed or changed.

We will remove personal photographs at the request of the person shown or the photographer, artwork at the request of the artist, and personal details at the request of the person they describe. We will always correct demonstrable factual errors. We will consider every other request on its merits and tell you the outcome either way.

What we ask in return is that you tell us who you are in relation to the material and confirm that you are entitled to ask. Where we have reasonable doubt, we will ask you to verify that connection before we act, in a way proportionate to what is being requested. We do this because a removal route that anybody can invoke about anybody else is a tool for erasing other people's photographs and for suppressing accurate reporting, and we are not willing to operate one.

What we will not do is remove accurate, properly sourced, lawfully published reporting or honest opinion merely because somebody dislikes it. Requests of that kind will be read, taken seriously, and answered, and we will explain our reasoning rather than ignore you. The right to ask is unconditional. The outcome depends on what is being asked.

Automated Access, Scraping, and AI Training

The content on this site is written and maintained by people, at considerable cost. Except as expressly permitted below, you may not use automated systems to crawl, scrape, harvest, copy, or bulk download the site or its underlying data, whether for republication, for building a competing dataset or directory, or for training machine learning or generative models.

Permitted exceptions, without needing to ask us: ordinary search engine indexing that respects our robots directives, accessibility tools acting for a reader, archival crawling by recognised public archives, and reasonable personal use. We publish machine readable guidance about acceptable automated use on the site and expect it to be honoured. Ignoring it, disguising an automated client as a person, or circumventing rate limits is a breach of these Terms.

Reasonable quotation with attribution and a working link is welcome and always has been. Wholesale reproduction is not. If you want to license our data properly, ask.

Anyone accessing this site by automated means is on notice of this section and accepts it by continuing. Operating a crawler, scraper, or ingestion pipeline is a deliberate, repeated, commercial act carried out by a party capable of reading these Terms first. Continuing to access the site after this notice, or after we have written to you about it, is acceptance of these Terms and a knowing breach of them. We reserve every remedy available to us, including blocking, rate limiting, technical countermeasures, and claims for breach of contract and for the costs your traffic imposes on us. Our content, its selection, its arrangement, and the compiled data behind it are our protected work product, and the labour that produced it is not free for the taking.

What You Send Us

Corrections to convention listings, tips, photographs, feedback, and anything else you send us stay yours. By sending them you give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use, edit, and publish that material on the site and in our related channels, and you confirm you have the right to grant it. You also confirm the material is accurate to the best of your knowledge and does not infringe anyone else's rights. We are under no obligation to publish anything you send, and we may edit submissions for length, accuracy, and house style. If you send us an idea or suggestion, we may act on it without owing you payment or credit.

If a photograph of you appears on the site and you would rather it did not, write to us and we will remove it. We do not require you to explain why.

Affiliate Links and Product Information

Some links on this site earn us a commission, described in full in our Affiliate Disclosure. Prices, availability, specifications, and listings on retailer sites change constantly and are outside our control, so treat anything we quote as accurate at the time of writing rather than a live figure. Your purchase is a contract between you and the retailer, not with us. Returns, warranty claims, shipping problems, and refunds are handled by that retailer under their own terms.

No Professional Advice

Our guides cover crafting, cleaning chemicals, adhesives, power tools, heat management, and travel. They are written from practical experience and research, and they are general information rather than professional, medical, legal, or safety advice. Always follow the instructions and warnings supplied with a product, and use your own judgement about your own health, equipment, and circumstances.

Choosing to review or remove some material is not an undertaking to review or remove all of it.

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Main Media LLC and the people who run FurryGuides against claims, damages, and reasonable legal costs arising from your misuse of the site, your breach of these Terms, or material you submitted that infringes someone else's rights. We will tell you promptly about any such claim and will not settle it without talking to you first.

Modifications to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of our website constitutes acceptance of modified terms.

Termination

We reserve the right to terminate or restrict access to our services for violations of these terms or other reasonable causes.

Governing Law & Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, United States, without regard to its conflict of law rules. The courts of Sheridan County, Wyoming have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, and you consent to that venue. If you are a consumer resident in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer law in your own country, and you may bring proceedings in your local courts.

Before filing anything, please write to us. Most problems are faster to fix by email than by court, and we would rather fix them. Where permitted by law, you waive the right to participate in any class action against us. Any claim connected with the site must be brought within one year of when it arose.

Copyright Complaints

If you believe content on this site infringes your copyright, send a notice to [email protected] with the subject line "Copyright Takedown," or by post to our designated agent at the address below. Under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act your notice must include:

  • Identification of the work you claim is infringed
  • The URL of the allegedly infringing material, specific enough for us to find it

Notices should be addressed to our designated copyright agent, Main Media LLC, at the email and postal address given at the end of this page. A notice that omits the elements above may not be effective, and we may disregard notices that are plainly abusive or that misrepresent ownership. Knowingly making a material misrepresentation in a takedown notice carries liability for damages and legal costs under 17 U.S.C. section 512(f), and we will pursue that where somebody uses the process in bad faith to suppress lawful material.

We respond to valid takedown notices within a reasonable time and will tell the person who posted the material. If you believe your material was removed by mistake you may send a counter notification containing the same contact details, identification of the removed material and where it appeared, and a statement under penalty of perjury that the removal was a mistake or misidentification, consenting to the jurisdiction of the federal court for your district. We may restore the material after ten business days unless we receive notice of a court filing. We terminate repeat infringers.

Third Party Names and Trademarks

Convention names, event names, maker and artist names, brand names, product names, and logos belong to their respective owners. We use them descriptively, to identify what we are writing about, which is exactly what those names are for. Their use here does not imply affiliation, sponsorship, partnership, or endorsement in either direction. If you own a mark and object to how it appears here, write to us and we will look at it.

Availability and Changes to the Site

We provide the site on a best effort basis. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of it, temporarily or permanently, with or without notice. Pages may move, features may be retired, tools may be replaced, and the site may be unavailable during maintenance or for reasons beyond our control. We are not liable to you for any of that, and we do not promise that any particular page or feature will remain available.

Some features may be offered as experimental or in testing. Those are provided without any assurance of accuracy, continuity, or support, and may be withdrawn at any point.

We read every report. Security researchers acting in good faith, who give us a reasonable chance to fix an issue before publishing it and who do not access other people's data, will not be pursued by us for the act of reporting.

General Provisions

  • Severability. If a court finds part of these Terms unenforceable, that part is narrowed only as far as needed and the rest stays in force.
  • No waiver. If we do not enforce a provision straight away, we have not given up the right to enforce it later.
  • Assignment. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms. We may transfer ours to a successor if the site changes hands.
  • Entire agreement. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and Affiliate Disclosure, are the whole agreement between us about the site and replace anything said earlier.
  • Events outside our control. We are not liable for failures caused by things we cannot reasonably control, such as outages at our host, network failures, or natural events.
  • No partnership. Nothing here makes either of us the agent or partner of the other, and the conventions, makers, and vendors we write about are not our partners either unless we say so on the page.
  • Survival. The sections covering intellectual property, submissions, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and governing law continue to apply after you stop using the site.
  • Headings. Section headings are there to help you navigate and do not limit the text beneath them.
