Spring cons are wrapping up. If you went to Further Confusion, VancouFur, or Texas Furry Fiesta earlier this year, you know 2026 is already off to a strong start. But the biggest events are still ahead, and the next eight months hold more options than any single con-goer could possibly attend.
From FWA's atrium takeover in May through Midwest FurFest closing out the year in December, this guide covers every major convention left on the 2026 calendar. We have pulled confirmed dates, themes, venues, and attendance figures directly from the source so you can plan your trips with confidence. If you are trying to decide where to go (or how many cons your wallet can handle), this is the place to start.
From massive flagship events to smaller regional gatherings with more breathing room, the back half of 2026 has something for every fur.
May marks the real start of convention season. Three major events fire off within the same ten-day window, including two on the exact same weekend.
Theme: Nowhere Inn Between | Venue: Marriott Marquis & Hyatt Regency, Atlanta, GA | 2025 Attendance: 17,736
FWA is the con that never sleeps. The Marriott Marquis, with its 50-story open atrium that looks like the inside of a concrete ribcage, transforms into a multi-level party every May. The 2026 theme, "Nowhere Inn Between," leans into the building's surreal, liminal-space architecture.
At nearly 18,000 attendees, FWA stands as one of the three largest furry conventions on the planet. The Georgia Aquarium Takeover remains a signature draw, giving attendees private after-hours access to fursuit alongside whale sharks. Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson airport connects to everywhere, and the MARTA rail runs directly from baggage claim to the convention hotels.
If you are a fursuiter heading to FWA in the Georgia heat, read our cooling solutions guide before you pack. Atlanta in May is warm, and the atrium raves will push that further. For a deeper look at FWA specifically, see the FWA 2026 preview.
Theme: The Musical | Venue: Hilton Birmingham Metropole, Birmingham, UK | 2025 Attendance: 3,124
The UK's largest furry convention takes the bank holiday weekend with a theatrical theme. ConFuzzled is known for polished mainstage productions, and "The Musical" should push that reputation even further. Expect choreographed dance competitions, live performances, and production-quality A-V setups throughout the Hilton Metropole.
Getting there is straightforward: Birmingham Airport connects to the venue via a free monorail, and UK rail services run directly to Birmingham International station. For North American attendees considering the trip, check our Europe cons guide and international travel tips for fursuiters.
Theme: Wild Wild Furry West | Venue: Hyatt Regency Portland, Portland, OR | 2025 Attendance: 2,724
Here is the scheduling wrinkle: Furlandia runs the same weekend as ConFuzzled. For most people this is a non-issue (one is in England, the other in Oregon), but if you have been eyeing both, you will need to choose.
Furlandia has grown quickly, jumping from 2,060 attendees in 2024 to 2,724 in 2025 after upgrading to the Hyatt Regency Portland. The "Wild Wild Furry West" theme brings frontier energy to the Pacific Northwest's biggest furry gathering over Memorial Day weekend. Portland's food scene and creative culture make the city itself a strong draw beyond the convention.
Summer is when convention season hits full speed. The June-to-August stretch holds the single largest event of the year and presents one of the trickiest scheduling decisions in the fandom.
Theme: Critters, Cryptids & Curses | Venue: David L. Lawrence Convention Center, Pittsburgh, PA | 2025 Attendance: 18,357
Anthrocon is the event. At 18,357 attendees in 2025, it holds the record for the largest furry convention gathering, and the 2026 edition lands on the July 4th holiday weekend for the second year running. The "Critters, Cryptids & Curses" folklore theme should produce some wild suits in the parade: expect Mothman wings, Wendigo antlers, and every regional cryptid you can imagine marching through downtown Pittsburgh.
Pittsburgh goes all-in on Anthrocon. The city hangs banners, businesses put up welcome signs, and residents line the streets to watch the Fursuit Parade. The David L. Lawrence Convention Center hosts the Dealers Den, Main Stage, and Art Show, while the connected Westin handles overflow panels and serves as the social hub.
Hotel blocks are the challenge. Anthrocon releases rooms in waves for Ultrasponsors, Dealers, and General attendees starting in February. General blocks across the 20+ partner hotels typically sell out within minutes. If you missed the block, join the convention's Telegram or Discord for room-share coordination.
Getting there: Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT) connects to downtown via the 28X Airport Flyer bus for under three dollars. If you are driving, downtown parking is limited, so plan for hotel valet or a park-and-ride lot. The convention also operates a shuttle network connecting overflow hotels to the David L. Lawrence entrance, which is a lifesaver if you end up booked at a property a few blocks out.
For first-timers making this their debut convention, our First Convention Survival Guide covers everything from badge pickup to the 6-2-1 rule.
August 2026 presents a genuine scheduling headache. Eurofurence (August 19-23) and Megaplex (August 21-23) overlap by two full days. These are both major events that pull from partly overlapping international audiences, and picking between them is one of the harder decisions on the 2026 calendar.
Theme: Fantastic Furry Festival | Venue: CCH Congress Center Hamburg, Germany | 2025 Attendance: 6,712
This is a milestone year. Eurofurence turns 30, making it one of the longest-running furry conventions in existence. The "Fantastic Furry Festival" anniversary theme should bring out alumni, retrospectives, and a particularly polished edition of the Pawpet Show, the theatrical production that has become synonymous with EF.
Attendance jumped to 6,712 in 2025, and the 30th anniversary could push that even higher. Hamburg is well-connected by air and rail. Fly into Hamburg Airport (HAM) or take the ICE high-speed train from anywhere in Germany or the neighboring countries. The CCH sits next to Planten un Blomen park, and partner hotels spread across Hamburg's efficient U-Bahn system.
For anyone who has been meaning to attend Eurofurence "someday," the 30th anniversary is the year to commit. This is the kind of event the community will talk about for a long time. See our Europe conventions roundup for more on planning a European con trip.
Theme: Parks | Venue: Hyatt Regency Orlando, FL | 2025 Attendance: 10,038
Megaplex crossed the 10,000-attendee mark for the first time in 2025, and the "Parks" theme plays directly into the Orlando location. The Hyatt Regency on International Drive puts attendees near Disney and Universal, and many people extend the weekend into a full Florida vacation.
Megaplex is an 18+ convention with a strong focus on performance, fursuit theatricals, and charity fundraising. The 2025 edition raised $90,600 for the Greater Orlando Pet Alliance. The resort-style venue with outdoor pools gives it a different feel from the convention-center events.
The overlap verdict: If you are based in Europe, EF30 is the clear pick. If you are in the Southeastern US and want the resort-party experience, Megaplex wins on convenience. The only people truly stuck are those who travel internationally for both circuits. In that case, EF30's anniversary significance gives it a slight edge as the "once in a generation" choice.
The summer stretch also includes DenFur (Aug 28-30, Denver), StratosFur (June 5-7, Houston), and Furry Siesta (June 19-21, Dallas), all covered in the summary table below. If you are a fursuit-friendly con enthusiast, note that summer heat in Orlando, Houston, and Dallas demands serious cooling prep.
The post-summer stretch offers smaller, more intimate gatherings before the year-end blowout.
Theme: Be Kind, Rewind | Venue: Hyatt Regency Minneapolis, MN | 2025 Attendance: 2,801
"Minnesota Nice" is a real thing, and Furry Migration is proof. This cozy, well-run convention at the Hyatt Regency on Nicollet Mall leans into a 90s VHS throwback with its "Be Kind, Rewind" theme. The September timing hits a sweet spot: past the summer heat, before the Minnesota winter, and in a gap between the major summer events and MFF.
At 2,801 attendees, FM is big enough to feel like a full convention but small enough that you will actually see the same faces twice. The downtown Hyatt location on Nicollet Mall means solid restaurant and nightlife options right outside the door. If you have done the mega-cons and want something with a tighter community feel, this is a strong pick.
Theme: Sailing the Ocean Blue | Venue: Grand Sierra Resort & Casino, Reno, NV | 2025 Attendance: 3,755
BLFC is the resort con. The Grand Sierra Resort is a full entertainment complex with bowling, go-karts, escape rooms, an arcade, and a casino, all under one roof. You technically never have to step outside. The "Sailing the Ocean Blue" nautical theme should pair well with the resort-party energy.
A few things to know: BLFC's 2026 dates fall Monday through Thursday, which is unusual and means you may need extra time off work. Nevada law prohibits fursuit heads on the casino floor, so the convention maps fursuit-safe corridors through the property. And the free airport shuttle from Reno-Tahoe International (RNO) means you can skip the rental car entirely.
Theme: Rock N' Roll Nightmare | Venue: DoubleTree by Hilton, Stamford, CT | 2025 Attendance: 3,150
If you want to spend Halloween in fursuit, Furpocalypse is the place. Running over the actual Halloween weekend, the convention blends horror aesthetics with the furry fandom. The 2026 "Rock N' Roll Nightmare" theme adds a heavy-metal edge. Expect creative costume mashups, trick-or-treating in suit, and a dark party atmosphere.
Furpocalypse raised $18,000 for Q+ in 2025 and has become a reliable fundraiser. The Stamford location puts it within reach of New York City and the broader Northeast corridor.
Theme: Bark to the Future | Venue: Donald E. Stephens Convention Center, Rosemont, IL | 2025 Attendance: 16,925
MFF closes the convention year the way it always does: at an enormous scale. The second-largest furry convention in the world (and closing the gap on Anthrocon) fills the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center plus multiple hotel properties across Rosemont. "Bark to the Future" brings cinematic retro-future energy to what is already the fandom's most anticipated winter event.
The numbers speak for themselves: 16,925 attendees and $151,517 raised for charity in 2025. The Dealers Den is the largest in the fandom. The dances run multiple floors. The Fursuit Parade draws thousands of participants. If you attend one convention all year, many people would tell you to make it MFF.
The cold reality: Chicago in December is genuinely cold. Pack thermal layers, a heavy coat, and waterproof boots. Skybridges connect some hotels to the convention center, but outdoor transfers between properties are unavoidable. Fly into O'Hare (ORD) and take a hotel shuttle or the CTA Blue Line to Rosemont.
Hotel booking for MFF is the most competitive process in the fandom. Blocks sell out in minutes. The Hyatt Regency O'Hare is the primary "party" hotel, and a room there puts you at the center of the convention's nightlife. Convention center hotels connected via skybridges let you avoid outdoor transfers in winter weather. Set your alarms, join the official channels, and be ready the moment booking opens. If you went to MFF last year, our MFF 2025 recap covers what went down.
These mid-sized events fill the calendar between the flagships. Each offers a distinct personality and draws a loyal regional crowd.
| Convention | Dates | Location | Theme | 2025 Attendance |

View Full CalendarFurry Migration (September 11-13, Minneapolis) and Biggest Little Fur Con (October 12-15, Reno) are both excellent first conventions. They are large enough to offer a full convention experience with panels, a Dealers Den, dances, and a fursuit parade, but small enough that the crowds are not overwhelming. BLFC's resort format is especially beginner-friendly because everything is under one roof. If you want the full mega-con experience for your first time, Anthrocon's welcoming city-wide atmosphere makes it less intimidating than its 18,000+ attendance might suggest.
It depends on where you are based and what you value. EF30 is a once-in-a-generation milestone: the 30th anniversary of Europe's oldest furry convention, held in Hamburg with world-class theatrical programming. Megaplex offers a resort-party atmosphere in Orlando with the bonus of nearby theme parks. If you have never been to EF, the anniversary year is the strongest possible reason to go. If transatlantic travel is not realistic for your budget, Megaplex is an incredible event in its own right with 10,000+ attendees.
As early as possible. Anthrocon and MFF hotel blocks sell out within minutes of opening. Join the convention's official Telegram, Discord, or mailing list and set alerts for the booking announcement. For mid-sized cons like BLFC and Furry Migration, you have a bit more breathing room, but booking within the first week of block availability is still smart. Out-of-block hotels near the venue are always an option but cost significantly more.
Yes. BLFC 2026 runs Monday through Thursday (October 12-15), which is unusual for a major convention. This means you will likely need to take time off work, but it also means fewer crowds and potentially lower travel costs compared to weekend events. Most other conventions on this list follow the standard Thursday-through-Sunday or Friday-through-Sunday format.
For most people, two to four conventions per year is sustainable without burning out your budget or your energy. A common pattern is one local regional con plus one flagship event (Anthrocon or MFF). Hardcore con-goers might hit six or more, but that requires careful financial planning and a high tolerance for travel. Our budgeting guide breaks down costs per trip so you can map out a realistic year. Start with one or two if you are new, and build from there.
