CastleCon 2027 is scheduled for Jun 18-20, 2027 at Camping Schüttehof.
CastleCon is a furry camping convention in Horb am Neckar, Germany. It is built around tents, shared outdoor space, and a lighter self-catering setup rather than a standard hotel-convention model.
CastleCon runs once a year in June as a self-catering camping weekend at Camping Schüttehof in Horb am Neckar, and the German camping convention does not use named themes in its traditional format. CastleCon 16 runs from June 18 to June 20, 2027, with arrival from 14:30 on the Friday once the campsite's regulated midday quiet hour ends, or from 16:00 on the Thursday if you book the early tier. The previous edition, CastleCon 15, wrapped up on June 21, 2026 (see Past Years below).
The base price for CastleCon 16 is €26 for the weekend, which covers two nights in your own tent, the sanitary block, the playground and outdoor pool, your badge, mains power for small devices, and the shared grill with charcoal provided. A single day costs €10. Arriving on the Thursday adds €10, a con T-shirt €12, and a caravan or motorhome pitch €11 a night; bringing a dog is free. Registration for CastleCon 16 is not open yet, and the convention's registration page says the system will be switched on again for this edition. It usually opens at the end of February and closes one week before the weekend starts, announced on that page and through the con's Telegram info channel, so watch those rather than the dead @CastleConDe Twitter account. The convention plans for 80 to 100 campers and the door is 18+.
CastleCon is a useful contrast to Germany's ballroom and city-hotel conventions. The event is much more about campsite atmosphere, hanging out outdoors, and treating the weekend like a furry camping trip with organized structure around it. The official page is explicit that attendees should expect a self-supply format, their own tent setup, and a campground environment rather than a hotel package.

3 quirks & policies that don't fit the highlights grid.
The Schütteberg setting and where the "Castle" name fits
The campsite address, Schütteberg 7-9, 72160 Horb, sits literally on the Schütteberg hill, the same 550 m ridge above the Neckar that Horb''s historic old town and its medieval Stadtburg (town castle) occupy. Per Horb''s civic history, the town was acquired by the Counts of Hohenberg in 1305 and has carried the Hohenberg coat of arms ever since.
Waldbrandstufe 3 cuts the Lagerfeuer mid-event
The site spells out a regulatory wrinkle absent from US camping cons: as soon as Baden-Württemberg''s Waldbrandstufe (forest-fire warning level) hits 3, all open flame at the campsite is banned by law, including the Lagerfeuer (the campfire that''s the centrepiece of German Pfadfinder-style camping) and the shared charcoal grills.
Mittagsruhe-gated arrival and reg closing one week out
Arrival follows German campground rhythm: main attendees may not roll in until 14:30 Friday because Mittagsruhe, the campsite''s regulated midday quiet-hour, ends then. Early-tier registrants pay €10 extra to arrive Thursday from 16:00.
