Why €125 became €240, and what the move bought
The Furvester 7 con fee jumped from €125 to €240 when the convention moved from the Hotel Fortuna in Reutlingen to the Stadthalle Karlsruhe. The org publishes the full reasoning on the registration page: the old industrial-area hotel had no nearby food, no fallback hotels, and a hard attendee cap, so attendees absorbed hidden costs.
NYE in a pyrotechnic-free zone by Karlsruhe city ordinance
Furvester is one of the few New Year''s Eve furry conventions, but the venue sits inside Karlsruhe''s official pyrotechnic-free zone by city ordinance. The Rules of Conduct bind attendees not just on the Stadthalle grounds but in the surrounding areas, and even off-venue fireworks are sanctionable if they "bring disrepute to the convention."
Animal-charity tradition: every edition, a different rescue
Across six editions Furvester has run the same charity pattern: an animal or wildlife rescue, German or Dutch, never repeated. The lineage: Alternative Wolf- und Bärenpark Schwarzwald (FV3, 2019, rescued bears + wolves + lynx); Aktion Fischotterschutz e.V. (FV4, 2022, world''s largest independent otter charity); Tierheim Vaihingen/Enz (FV5, 2023, post-pandemic small-shelter relief); De Poezenboot / Catboat Amsterdam (FV6, 2024, the historic floating cat sanctuary founded 1968).
