Scotiacon stands incredibly proud as Scotland's premier, and currently only, dedicated furry convention! Masterfully operating right in the incredibly vibrant, historic city of Glasgow, this phenomenal event has successfully carved out a brilliantly unique identity in the European fandom. By actively trading the overwhelming, exhausting scale of massive English megacons for a profoundly welcoming, deeply community-focused atmosphere, Scotiacon has engineered a convention experience that feels less like a chaotic trade show and entirely more like a massive reunion of friends.

The Scottish Experience & Registration

The convention operates out of the gorgeous Crowne Plaza Glasgow, offering an incredibly cozy yet highly accessible city setting right on the edge of the atmospheric River Clyde.

Because the spectacular venue size creates an intimate, highly sought-after environment, Scotiacon has implemented a brilliantly fair, heavily structured Registration Lottery System. This actively eliminates the horrible stress of the traditional "registration rush," ensuring every single interested attendee has an equal shot at securing a ticket. Furthermore, in 2026, the convention introduced fully randomized badge numbers, completely neutralizing the frantic dash for low-number status and keeping the entire vibe centered squarely on community well-being. This focus is further cemented by their extraordinary, dedicated Welfare Team—a highly specialized group completely distinct from security, deployed specifically to ensure the emotional and physical safety of the entire attendee base!

2026 Theme: Howl at High Noon

Bringing absolute frontier madness to the Scottish Highlands, the February 6-9, 2026 edition is fully embracing a radically fun "Howl at High Noon" theme!

The brilliant magic of Scotiacon is how they actively localize broad themes. Instead of a generic Western aesthetic, the convention famously interprets the Old West through a distinctly, hilariously Scottish lens—framing the entire weekend as a majestic, high-stakes quest for "Irn Bru" across the prairie! This hyper-localized, incredibly self-aware humor is the absolute heartbeat of the Scotiacon brand.

Getting There

Glasgow is phenomenally interconnected, making the journey to Scotiacon flawless:

  • Flying in: Glasgow Airport (GLA) is an absolutely stellar international hub. From the terminal, the brilliant First Glasgow Airport Express bus (Route 500) rockets attendees directly into the city center in under 15 minutes! Alternatively, if you fly into Edinburgh Airport (EDI), an incredibly easy Citylink bus connects straight to Glasgow's Buchanan Bus Station.
  • By Train: Glasgow Central and Glasgow Queen Street stations effectively connect the entire UK. From either station, reaching the venue is just a stunningly quick, cheap taxi ride, or a highly scenic walk down the Clyde if the Scottish winter weather is playing nice.
  • The Local Metro: The Glasgow Subway (affectionately known as the "Clockwork Orange") is a wonderfully simple, highly efficient way to navigate the broader city if you decide to explore beyond the hotel footprint.

Accommodation

The hotel situation is brilliantly mapped out for full immersion:

  • Main Venue (Crowne Plaza Glasgow): The absolute epicenter of the Highland magic! Securing a room right in the main block guarantees you are mere footsteps away from late-night panels, the roaring Dealers' Den, and the breathtaking traditional Scottish Ceilidh social dances!
  • The Hilton Garden Inn Backup: Because the Crowne Plaza is heavily capped and intensely popular, Scotiacon brilliantly partners with the exceptional Hilton Garden Inn Glasgow City Centre to handle overflow, keeping the entire community incredibly close together along the riverfront corridor.

Highlights

  • The Sole Scottish Anchor: Unquestionably the most important, prestigious furry gathering in all of Scotland!
  • Howl at High Noon: A ridiculously fun, intensely Scottish interpretation of the Old West running through the February 2026 dates.
  • Incredible Registration System: Utilizing a brilliantly fair lottery and randomized badge numbers to keep pre-con stress at absolute zero.
  • Dedicated Welfare Focus: A spectacularly structured, highly trained Welfare Team ensures the environment remains flawlessly safe and welcoming for all attendees.
