Notes on Anthro Weekend Utah

3 quirks & policies that don't fit the highlights grid.

  • Davis Conference Center: 70,000 sq ft with the Hilton connected

AWU runs out of the Davis Conference Center in Layton, Utah: over 70,000 square feet of conference space, with the Hilton Garden Inn physically connected to the building (an unusually direct hotel-to-venue link for a regional furry con).

  • Where Nuzzles & Co. actually spends the AWU charity money

Charity partner Nuzzles & Co. is a no-kill animal rescue in Park City, founded 1990, that has saved over 27,000 animals and rehomes around 1,200 per year. Funds raised at AWU ($36,830 in 2025) feed three programs most attendees don''t hear about elsewhere: the Purple Paw Program, which shelters pets of domestic violence victims so survivors don''t have to leave animals behind when fleeing; the Reservation Rescue Program with Native American reservations; and Pop-Up Pet Food Pantries for community members in financial hardship.

  • The 3-leg car-free route from SLC airport to the badge desk

AWU publishes one of the most detailed car-free transit routes on the North American calendar: TRAX 704 from Salt Lake City International, transfer to the FrontRunner commuter train to Layton Station, then catch the free Midtown Trolley bus 628 (often painted to look like a vintage streetcar) to the Davis Conference Center. The route is fare-light enough that a rental car is genuinely optional, not a fallback.
