From attendees
The nearest airport is Cardiff Airport (CWL), about 40 miles east of Port Talbot. Bristol Airport (BRS) is also within reach, roughly 70 miles east across the Severn Bridge. Port Talbot Parkway railway station is served by Great Western Railway and Transport for Wales, with direct services from London Paddington (about 3 hours), Cardiff (40 minutes), and Swansea (15 minutes). From the station, the Best Western Aberavon Beach Hotel is about a 10-minute taxi ride or a 25-minute walk to the seafront. Drivers reach Port Talbot via the M4 motorway from both directions.

The convention is held at the Best Western Aberavon Beach Hotel (SA12 6QP), directly on Aberavon Beach. The hotel serves as both venue and primary accommodation. Room rates are typically available at a convention group rate announced closer to the event. The seafront location means the beach is literally outside the front door, ideal for fursuit photography.
Aberacon's first full weekend event drew 275 attendees to the Welsh coast. The Western-themed convention raised 735 GBP for the Maesteg Animal Welfare Society and confirmed demand for a multi-day Welsh furry convention.

3 quirks & policies that don't fit the highlights grid.
Bilingual top-to-bottom: Aberacon as a Cymraeg furry con
Aberacon is the only UK furry convention to publish every page of its official site bilingually in English and Welsh (Cymraeg). About, Venue, Travel, FAQs, Mascot, and Policies each carry a full Welsh translation under headings like Lleoliad, Amdanom, and Cwestiynnau Cyffredin, not as a token gesture, but as a parallel reading of the site.
Aberavon seafront, a Blue Flag beach as a con venue
The Best Western Aberavon Beach Hotel sits on Aberavon Seafront, the longest beach in Wales and a regular winner of Keep Britain Tidy''s Seaside Award alongside its Blue Flag, making Aberacon the only UK furry convention held on a Blue Flag beach.
Cole the corgi (Glo y Corgi), the steelworks mascot
Aberacon''s mascot is Cole the corgi, known in Welsh as Glo (literally coal), with backstory rooted in Port Talbot''s industrial identity. Cole works at the steelworks on the pickle line (a real metalworks term, the acid bath that removes scale from sheet steel), wears permanent safety goggles, and "loves that first daffodil in spring" (Wales'' national flower) and the smell of fresh Welsh cakes.
