An Austrian Verein under Vereinsgesetz 2002, not a German e.V.
Awoostria is organised by Awoostria, Verein zur Förderung der Subkultur der Darstellung von anthropomorphen Mischwesen, registered with Austria''s central Vereinsregister. The chair sits in Wiener Neustadt, 50 km south of the Vienna venue, and the Verein operates under Austria''s Vereinsgesetz 2002, a separate legal regime from Germany''s e.V. framework that Eurofurence and Furvester use.
Two venues: a Hyatt Regency and a children's charity foundation
The 2026 convention is split between the Hyatt Regency Vienna (the renamed Andaz Vienna Am Belvedere, rebranded April 2026) and Cape10 on Alfred-Adler-Straße in Vienna''s Favoriten district.
CoC cites Verbotsgesetz 1947 and over-restricts legal weapons
The Rules of Conduct explicitly name Austria''s Verbotsgesetz 1947, the post-war statute banning National Socialist reactivation, as the authority behind the symbol ban. Most furry codes of conduct in the German-speaking scene stop at a generic "no totalitarian regime symbols" line, so naming the governing statute is unusually specific: it tells an attendee exactly which law the con is enforcing, not just which vibe.
