Camp Feral! is a 19+ furry summer camp held at Camp Arowhon in Algonquin Provincial Park, Ontario. Campers sleep in cabins, eat three buffet meals a day in the Main Lodge, and spend three full days on canoeing, archery, ropes courses, workshops and evening dances. The organizers date it to 1998 and describe it as the world's third oldest furry convention and Canada's first.
The organizers announced the 2027 theme, Elevators, in their post-camp message on August 25, 2026. Dates and the registration window for 2027 have not been published yet. The FAQ says camp typically runs during the last weekend in August, and the 2026 lottery opened in mid-April, so the official Telegram announcement channel is the place to watch from early spring.
Camp Feral! is a camp first and a convention second. Registration covers the cabin, every meal, all-day coffee and tea, late-evening snacks and the camp's own activities, and the FAQ says extra money is not needed to enjoy camp, though some bring cash for the Tuck Shop, the Trading Post or workshop materials of $5 to $30. The schedule mixes traditional summer-camp sport with programming built by the attendees: the 2026 list included a bocce tournament, a parachute-games session, a bird talk, trivia gameshows and a Pokémon card tournament. There is no Wi-Fi for campers and most phones get no signal at the camp; the FAQ's answer is that the point of Feral! is to enjoy the company and the surroundings. The group has the site to itself, so the whole stay happens inside the community.
Camp Arowhon is inside Algonquin Provincial Park, and the nearest town with groceries and department stores is Huntsville, about 55 km from the Arowhon turnoff or roughly an hour's drive. Campers without a car can take Camp Feral!'s optional bus from Toronto, booked as an add-on to registration; in 2026 it left from Advent Lutheran church at 2800 Don Mills Road in North York at 1:00 PM sharp, with check-in from 10:30 AM. The bus is a regular yellow school bus with no washroom on board, and the trip takes about three and a half hours with one stop. The FAQ tells drivers to fill up in Toronto and again in Huntsville, or carry enough fuel for 150 km, because the nearest station is not close and every year a camper nearly runs out; the small community of Dwight has a gas station. The campsite does not open until the late afternoon of the first day, cars cannot be used around camp after load-in, and parking is limited, which is why the organizers push the bus and carpooling.

Lodging is part of every registration package, so there is no hotel to book. Campers are assigned to shared cabins with bunk beds, mostly for around 8 to 10 people, with a few four-person cabins. Before camp, registered campers fill in a cabin request form covering who they want to room with, bedtime, how deeply they sleep, snoring and any medical needs, and newcomers are often placed with returning campers. The beds are single foam bunks meant for children, with no linens, and the cabins have no heating, so the organizers tell campers to bring a sleeping bag or sheets and warm layers because nights get cold. Each cabin has a basic washroom, showers are in separate buildings with individual stalls, and cabin outlets only handle low-draw electronics. Huntsville, about an hour away, is the nearest town with full services if you need to arrive the day before or pick up supplies.

Places were allocated by lottery between April 15 and April 22, 2026, not first come, first served. A $50 CAD deposit held a place, with the balance due by July 9, 2026. The bus from Toronto to camp was an optional extra.
Camp Feral! 2026 ran August 20-24 at Camp Arowhon under the theme "Steal This Theme!". That year every place went through a single lottery, with a slight weight for campers who had attended 5 or 10 years and more and a new +1 option for registering in pairs, and the Camper package cost CAD 615.
The 2025 camp ran Thursday August 21 to Monday August 25. The schedule was published under the theme "Book End", and campers filled in "booksona" forms alongside their bus and dietary details before camp. Registration was split in two: half the places opened in priority waves for campers with at least four years of attendance, and the other half went to an unweighted lottery for newer campers, with everyone not drawn placed on a waitlist.
Camp Feral! 2024, themed "Gone Coyote", ran August 22-26. Registration opened in two waves in late April, and once the places were taken new sign-ups went onto a waitlist.
The 2023 edition ran August 24-28 with a mock corporate "employee retreat" theme, Business Casual. The organizers announced that year that the camp would not have a traditional Guest of Honour.
Camp returned August 25-29, 2022 after the 2020 and 2021 camps were called off during the pandemic. The official epilogue newsletter shared camper and fursuit group photos and a new Telegram photo channel.

Places are allocated by lottery
In 2025 half the places went to long-time campers in priority waves and the other half to an unweighted lottery. For 2026 every place went through one week-long lottery, with a slight weight for campers of 5 or 10 years and more, so entering on the first night gave no advantage. Pairs could link entries as a "+1" without changing their odds, waitlisted campers got extra weight in the next year's draw, and two places were held for accepted panelists. Winners had 48 hours to accept and could hold a place with a $50 CAD deposit.
A shared camp built for children
Camp Arowhon is a children's summer camp the rest of the year, and the house rules follow from that. Cabins hold about 8 to 10 people on single foam bunks with no linens and no heating, there are no paved paths, glass bottles are banned, and the 2025 pre-camp notice asked everyone not to bring nuts. Pets are not allowed on the property, and attendees who need a service animal are asked to contact the organizers first.
