Furry Legends of Paradise (FLoP) operates on a full hotel-buyout model at The Retreat on Charleston Peak in Mt. Charleston, Nevada, near Las Vegas. Entry is typically free, with costs subsidized by attendees booking on-site rooms, making it a social-focused retreat rather than a traditional panel-driven convention.
FLoP takes over The Retreat on Charleston Peak in the Mt. Charleston area, an elevated location outside Las Vegas. Because the organizers rent the entire resort, the event operates as a private gathering. Entry to the event itself is typically free, with costs subsidized by attendees booking hotel rooms within the block.
The February 2026 Mt. Charleston gathering has wrapped, and the organizers have not yet posted dates for the next FLoP. The team typically runs multiple buyouts a year across Nevada and Utah locations and announces them on the Telegram chat and X account. Watch flop.vegas and the official Telegram for the next event window.
FLoP operates as a social retreat. There is no rigid scheduling or dealer's den. Instead, the event features DJ performances, room parties, and a close-knit atmosphere at a private ski-lodge resort. The convention has two mascots: John Flop, a beaver named after Beaver, Utah (the host town of the inaugural 2023 gathering), and Floppy, a Lahontan cutthroat trout, Nevada's official state fish.
FLoP Vegas events are all-ages in the dealers den, but hotel corridors are 18+ and you must be 21+ to book or check into a room. Non-Vegas FLoP gatherings have a flat 18+ minimum.
Standard attendance is free. The Sponsor tier ($50) and Super Sponsor tier ($100) include perks; Super Sponsors get to choose items from previous FLoP events as merch.
Fly into Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) in Las Vegas. The Retreat on Charleston Peak is roughly 45 minutes northwest of the Strip via Kyle Canyon Road. There is no public transit to Mt. Charleston, so you will need a car. Rental agencies operate out of LAS, or you can arrange a rideshare from the city. The drive climbs from desert floor to over 7,000 feet of elevation, so check road conditions in winter.

FLoP operates on a full hotel buyout of The Retreat on Charleston Peak (2755 Kyle Canyon Rd, Mt Charleston, NV 89124). All rooms include $150 in restaurant credit. Rates for the two-night stay range from $500 for a Standard King to $800 for a King Suite. A $100 deposit secures a room before the full payment deadline. Because the organizers rent the entire property, there are no overflow or partner hotels.
FLoP has held six confirmed gatherings across Nevada and Utah since 2023 (FLoP Vegas 2026 is the seventh), each using the same full hotel-buyout model.
The first FLoP took place June 16-18, 2023 at the Best Western Butch Cassidy Inn in Beaver, Utah. FLoP's own event history says the hotel sold out at more than 30 rooms and around 100 furries came. The event established the buyout model that would define every subsequent gathering.
FLoP ran two gatherings in 2024. The spring event at Mt Charleston grew the attendance to over 200. The Summer 2024 gathering moved to the Comfort Inn Saint George North in St. George, Utah (near Zion), on August 2-4, 2024, and sold out more than a month in advance.
FLoP Vegas 2025 ran March 14-16 at The Retreat at Mount Charleston with 250+ attendees and 10 dealers; the mountain snowed in during the weekend. The same year saw FLoP Utah 2025 and FLoP Clown 2025, the latter held in Tonopah, Nevada.
FLoP returned to The Retreat at Mount Charleston on February 6-8, 2026, running the same free-entry, full-buyout model with two-night room packages from $500 to $800 (each room including $150 in restaurant credit).

3 quirks & policies that don't fit the highlights grid.
Failed $100 room deposit auto-converts into a Super Sponsor tier
FLoP doesn''t sell badges. Convention entry is free with no registration, and the entire revenue model is a full hotel buyout fractioned across optional room bookings ($500-$800 for two nights, $150 onsite restaurant credit included) plus optional Sponsor ($50) and Super Sponsor ($100) add-ons. That much resembles a handful of other small social-format cons, but the deposit mechanic is unique: a $100 room deposit holds your spot without locking in room type, balance due Friday January 2nd 2026, and if a deposit-holder fails to complete payment, the $100 automatically converts into a FLoP Super Sponsor tier rather than refunding or forfeiting. Sponsorships are non-refundable but fully transferable between attendees; dealer-den tables are free if you book a room and waived for non-room dealers who buy a $50 restaurant voucher. The whole economic model routes every dollar back into either the venue or the merch table, and almost no peer con converts failed payments upward into sponsor tiers.
Split-jurisdiction age policy across the NV and UT roving format
Because FLoP runs a roving multi-state format across Nevada and Utah, age policy splits by jurisdiction rather than applying one con-wide rule. At Vegas-area events (Mt Charleston in 2024, 2025 spring, and 2026 February) the dealers den is all-ages, hotel corridors are 18+, and you must be 21+ to book or check into a room, which is the venue's own policy rather than a state requirement. At non-Vegas gatherings (Beaver UT 2023, St George UT 2024, Tonopah NV at the Clown Motel for FLoP Clown 2025) a flat 18+ minimum applies because those venues don''t carry the same age-of-occupancy floor. Most cons publish one age policy; FLoP has to publish three nested ones, and the structure recurs every year because the roving format isn''t going away.
Suite allocation prioritises party hosts over sponsors and FCFS
The Retreat on Charleston Peak has only 3 King Suites, two of which have connecting rooms, high-demand inventory that almost every peer con would either lottery, auction, or sell first-come-first-served. FLoP instead runs a behaviour-priority ladder: furries who commit to hosting public room parties always get top priority, then Sponsors and Super Sponsors can book suites from December 1, then all attendees can book from December 15. Booking the suite still requires the $100 deposit plus a direct Telegram message to `@JohnFLoP` or email to `[email protected]`. Inverting the standard FCFS or random-lottery models in favour of "what are you bringing to the floor" is editorially unusual, most cons price-gate or chance-gate scarce inventory; FLoP behaviour-gates it.
