GoldenHorn is Slovenia's furry convention, organized by the SloFurs community and held on the Adriatic coast. Launched in 2023, the event drew 309 attendees in 2025 and is moving to the Hotel Slovenija in Portoroz for its 2026 edition.
Following steady attendance growth since its 2023 launch, the convention has progressively upgraded its venues. For the November 5-8, 2026 edition, GoldenHorn moves to the Hotel Slovenija in Portoroz.
The venue upgrade brings programming, dealer's halls, and accommodations under one resort roof. Paired with the "Stories Of The Old Ones" theme, attendees can expect a weekend of Adriatic mythology, seaside fursuiting, and community bonding.
GoldenHorn is a significant development for the Balkan and Central European furry scene. Drawing attendees from across the region, it is a gathering point for the community near the Slovenian coast.

From attendees
The base ticket. Attendee badge and lanyard, fursuit badges and the conbook
Adds a themed T-shirt, an enamel pin and a conbook mention
Adds early access to the Dealers Den, a themed pullover and a Goldy dakimakura
The convention frames the two upper tiers as SPONSORSHIPS added to the base Follower ticket rather than as replacements, though the figures above are the totals a visitor pays. Everyone gets the badge, fursuit badges and conbook; what the extra money buys is merchandise, and at Elder, early entry to the Dealers Den.
The closest major airport is Trieste-Friuli Venezia Giulia Airport (TRS) in Italy, about 80 km from Portoroz (roughly one hour by car). Ljubljana Joze Pucnik Airport (LJU), Slovenia's main international hub, is 142 km away (about 1.5 hours by car) and offers more European connections. A small regional airport, Portoroz Airport, sits just 6 km south of town near Secovlje, but has limited scheduled service.
Portoroz is accessible by car via the A1 motorway from Ljubljana, exiting toward Koper and following coastal roads south. From Italy, take the E61/RA 13 through Trieste toward the Slovenian border. The town is also reachable by bus from Ljubljana (about 2.5 hours) and from Trieste (about 1.5 hours). There is no direct rail service to Portoroz, but trains run to nearby Koper station, from which buses and taxis cover the remaining 17 km.

The 2026 convention moves to the Hotel Slovenija in Portoroz, a seaside resort hotel that consolidates programming, dealer's halls, and attendee accommodation under one roof. Portoroz is a popular Adriatic resort town, so alternative hotels, apartments, and guesthouses are plentiful along the waterfront. November is off-season for the coast, which means lower room rates and fewer tourists. Check the GoldenHorn website and the SloFurs registration page for any negotiated convention rates at Hotel Slovenija.

3 quirks & policies that don't fit the highlights grid.
Bed-spot + Room-share invitation flow with a 102€ flat deposit
Sleeping at either host hotel does not mean booking a room, it means booking a bed-spot, then creating or joining a "Room share" with other registered attendees who hold spots in the same room type. Every Room share has a 3-day fill window from creation; invitees accept or reject by email, and the share is only confirmed once every invite is accepted.
Elder sponsor tier ships a Goldy dakimakura
GoldenHorn runs a three-tier sponsorship ladder (Follower / Shaman / Elder) where the top Elder tier ships a Goldy mascot dakimakura body pillow as part of the kit, alongside a convention pullover, enamel pin, conbook mention, and early Dealers' Den access. A body-pillow perk attached to a sponsor tier rather than sold as an optional add-on is uncommon at sub-500 European cons; SloFurs treats the mascot IP itself as a tangible sponsor reward.
Two mascots drawn from Slovenian folk and heraldry
The convention is named after Zlatorog, the magical golden-horned Alpine chamois of Slovenian folk tale, and Goldy is its on-stage mascot. SloFurs (the parent nonprofit) carries a second mascot, Guapo, a black Carantanian panther drawn from medieval Slovenian heraldry, so the organising body and the convention each maintain a distinct national-symbol mascot. The 2026 Guest of Honour is Vienna-based digital and VRChat 3D artist dont_jinxit (Jinx).
