Furry Tea Party is Japan's most visible furry event, held in a public park in Kawasaki. It breaks the traditional "hotel con" mold by being entirely open-air.
While it has ~1,200 registered attendees, the event sees over 28,000 total participants. The "Casual Pass" model allows the general public, cosplayers, and locals to mingle with the fandom in an open-air environment. This creates a visibility and scale that is impossible in a closed-door hotel con.
