Dutch FurCon (DFC)

Dutch FurCon (DFC) is a furry convention for the Netherlands furry community and its neighbours, held each summer at a holiday park near Groesbeek in Gelderland. It is run by volunteers and deliberately kept small, and its whole pitch is accessibility: a single all-inclusive price, everything on one site, and a group small enough that you will recognise most faces by Sunday.

2026: Primal Origins

Dutch FurCon 11 runs from Friday 14 August at 17:00 to Monday 17 August at 10:00, 2026, at Vakantiepark De Oude Molen in Groesbeek. The theme is "Primal Origins", a trip back to prehistory: explore the colourful jungle, keep warm by a fire in the cave, or paint a masterpiece on the wall. Costumes and cosplay are actively encouraged.

One price covers the weekend: €200. That is not just a badge. It includes three nights in a room with bedding provided, three breakfasts, three lunches and three dinners including a BBQ, and snacks, soft drinks and coffee throughout, plus every activity, the karaoke hall, the cinema and the swimming pool. Sponsor status costs from €15 extra and adds a few thank-you perks. A limited-edition convention shirt is a separate €15 and can only be ordered with your registration, not at the door.

The convention describes the site as supporting a group of around 120 people, which puts it firmly at the intimate end of the European calendar.

Why Attend?

Dutch FurCon exists for people who cannot or would rather not travel to a large convention abroad. The organisers say so directly: it is built for those who want a great convention experience in a smaller group, and everything about the format follows from that.

The all-inclusive price is the clearest expression of it. At most conventions a badge is the start of your spending, with the hotel, every meal and often the parking still to come. Here one payment covers the room, all nine meals and the activities, which makes the weekend unusually easy to budget and removes the quiet exclusion that comes with a cheap badge attached to an expensive hotel.

The site does the rest. Because everyone sleeps, eats and socialises inside the same grounds, there is no split between the convention and the hotel bar, and no walk back to somewhere else at 2am. With three bar halls, a pool, a sauna and a cinema on site, and roughly 120 people spread across them, it reads as a group holiday with a furry programme rather than a convention floor.

How Do I Get to Dutch FurCon?

The venue address is Wylerbaan 2b, 6561 KR Groesbeek, in the east of the Netherlands near Nijmegen and close to the German border.

By public transport: there is a bus stop directly outside the venue, "De Oude Molen, Groesbeek", so the site is genuinely reachable without a car. Route to Nijmegen by train and take the local bus from there; the convention points attendees at 9292.nl for current routes and times.

By car: the convention notes that Google Maps recognises both the venue name and the address, so navigation is straightforward. One warning from the organisers: on arrival you may need a fairly sharp left turn, or a gentle right, across the cycle path, and it is easy to miss. Parking on site is free, partly beside the building and partly on the field.

By air: the nearest major airports are Eindhoven (EIN) and Amsterdam Schiphol (AMS), with Weeze (NRN) and Düsseldorf (DUS) practical from the German side. From any of them, continue by train to Nijmegen and then on to Groesbeek.

Where Should I Stay for Dutch FurCon?

On site, and it is already paid for. Accommodation is not a separate booking at Dutch FurCon: the €200 registration includes your room for three nights, so there is no hotel block to chase and no risk of the con selling out from under your reservation.

The rooms are better than the holiday-park label suggests. They come in two, three, four and six person configurations with boxspring beds and a TV in each, and all but four are en-suite; only those four share a bathroom. Bedding is provided, which the convention states explicitly, so you do not need to pack any.

The grounds are the reason to stay put rather than commute. Three bar halls, two activity halls, a swimming pool, a sauna, an outdoor terrace, a tennis court and a cinema are all inside the site, and with the whole weekend catered there is little practical reason to leave between Friday evening and Monday morning.

If you would rather have a hotel room to yourself, Nijmegen is the nearest city with a proper range of options and sits a short drive away. Be aware that you would be paying for that on top of a registration fee that already includes a bed and every meal, and that the bus back into town stops running long before the evening programming does.
