Kemogashima (獣ヶ島, "Beast Island") is a three-day fursuit gathering on Megijima, a small island in the Seto Inland Sea about 20 minutes by ferry from Takamatsu in Kagawa Prefecture. The organizers open the island's long beach to fursuiters for the weekend, and attendees stay in beachside inns or at a campsite inside the suiting area. Five editions have run each autumn since 2021, and the next is planned for autumn 2027.
The organizers say the next Kemogashima will take place in autumn 2027, and there is no edition in 2026. Dates, prices and the registration process for 2027 have not been announced. Places for 2025 were allocated by lottery, with no same-day entry, so watch the official website and the Kemogashima X account for the registration window.
Kemogashima is built around a slow island weekend rather than a packed schedule. Attendees suit up on the beach, take photos, talk and watch the sea, and the organizers call it a laid-back kemono event. The whole island is part of the Setonaikai National Park, and the event runs in the off-season, when the island sees very few tourists. Megijima is also known as Onigashima, the ogre island of the Momotaro folk tale, and the 2025 tours visited the hilltop cave linked to that story. Families are welcome, and in 2025 children under 18 attending with their family paid nothing.
The price for 2027 has not been announced. The figure is from 2025, for reference only, so check the convention's own site before you budget.

Everything starts at JR Takamatsu Station, which is a five-minute walk from the Takamatsu Port ferry terminal. The Meon ferry to Megijima takes about 20 minutes, and large luggage can travel on the car deck.
By rail: From the Shinkansen at JR Okayama, change to the Seto-Ohashi Line Marine Liner rapid service to Takamatsu. The Sunrise Seto sleeper train also runs between Tokyo and Takamatsu.
By air: Limousine buses run from Takamatsu Airport to JR Takamatsu Station.
By sea or bus: Jumbo Ferry links Kobe and Takamatsu, which the organizers call the cheapest route from the Kansai region, and highway buses from across Japan stop at the bus terminal next to JR Takamatsu Station.
By car: Leave the Takamatsu Expressway at Takamatsu-chuo IC and park near Takamatsu Port; anyone bringing a car onto the island has to tell the organizers when they register.

Attendees can stay on the island for one or two nights, either at a partner inn or at the campsite. The six partner inns are UMIYADO 鬼旬 and Shiosaiso (20 guests a night each), Megijima Beach Apartment (12), Hama-chan no Ie (10), and Megino and Ote no Yado (7 each), and each inn sets its own prices and cancellation rules. Lodging is not included in the event pass, and evening noise is patrolled by staff.
The island has no convenience store and no restaurant open at night, and its only shop, the JA branch, is open on weekdays only. Book a meal plan with your inn or buy food in Takamatsu before you board the ferry. Campers should prepare for strong, cold sea winds in November, and wild boars come out after dark. Staying in Takamatsu and taking the ferry each day is the other option.
