Carolina Furfare (CFF) is based in Hickory, North Carolina, drawing 1,134 attendees in 2025. Formerly known as Blue Ridge Furfare, it rebranded to represent the broader Carolinas region.
Guided by their mascots, Aster the grey squirrel and Petal the Virginia opossum, the convention has grown steadily. The rebranding proved successful, with attendance pushing past 1,100.
CFF is also notable for its charitable output. The attendee base raised over $10,000 in a single year for Rescue Tails, averaging roughly $9 per attendee, a strong per-capita figure in the convention space.
For its October 1-4, 2026 iteration, the convention adopts the "Cryptid Catastrophe" theme. The event blends Southern hospitality with Appalachian cryptid lore for a regionally flavored weekend.
