Camp Furst State is a weekend tent-camping trip for adult furries, run by The Furst State, the Delaware furry community behind the New Year's Furry Ball and the Delaware Furbowl. It is small on purpose: the 2026 camp at Cape Henlopen State Park near Lewes was capped at 20 attendees, and you must be 18 or older with valid government-issued ID to register. The organizers number each camp, and the eighth ran from October 2 to 4, 2026.
The 2025 and 2026 camps ran from Friday afternoon to Sunday at noon. In 2026 arrival opened at 2:00 PM on Friday and check-out was at 12:00 PM on Sunday. The organizers provide a light breakfast and a cookout-style dinner, with firewood, cookware, ice, burgers, hot dogs, eggs and condiments supplied, so do not bring your own firewood. Lunch and snacks are up to you, and campers with specific dietary needs are encouraged to bring their own food. Outside the two meals the days are unstructured, and campers who want to run a group activity can pitch it in the camp's Telegram chat.
You need your own camping gear. The 2026 packing list asked for a tent (no hammocks, because the extra ropes are a trip hazard at night), a sleeping bag or bed roll, a sleeping pad, clothes for anything from the high 40s to the 80s Fahrenheit, and a way to charge devices, since the sites have no electricity. Bring shower sandals, a towel and toiletries for the bathhouse. The organizers could supply only one six-person shared tent in 2026, for campers with no other option, and they encourage people to share tents.
The campground is shared with other visitors, often families with children, and the organizers ask campers to be good neighbors. They also warn that the park is very sandy and not ideal for extended fursuiting. Around the campground you can walk the trails through the dunes and the old Fort Miles bunkers, or take the Gordons Pond Trail toward Rehoboth Beach. The park lends bikes for free for two hours, and the organizers recommend bringing your own if you can.
Registration runs online through the organizer's RegFox page, linked from the official Camp Furst State page. For 2026 a Weekend Camper membership cost $60 and covered entry, a wristband that must be worn all weekend, and the breakfasts and dinners. Memberships were non-refundable, and there was no on-site registration and no day pass. With only 20 places, the 2026 camp was down to its last few spots in the final week. After registering you receive a link to a private Telegram chat for campers, which is where ride shares and gear are sorted out.
The next camp has not been announced. Watch the official page and The Furst State on Bluesky for dates and the registration opening.
The 2026 camp used sites T5 to T8 in the Cape Henlopen State Park campground, 15411 Campground Rd, Lewes, DE 19958. The organizers list the park's phone number as (302) 645-8983. In 2026 the organizers had four free parking passes at the campsites, reserved for staff and campers with mobility needs. Everyone else pays the park's overflow parking fee of $10 a day for Delaware vehicles or $20 a day for out-of-state vehicles; ask for a campground visitors pass at the entrance. That pass has no in and out privileges, so leaving the park means paying again to come back. The park allows alcohol at the campground in bottles or cans for adults 21 and over, but not near the bathhouses, and it prohibits public intoxication.
The Cape May-Lewes Ferry terminal is a little over a mile from the campground on foot.
Yes. The organizers state that the event is 18+, and registration requires valid government-issued ID such as a driver's license, state ID or passport.
Not for the 2026 camp. The organizers sold only full-weekend memberships and did not offer on-site registration, although the 2024 camp did have Saturday and Sunday day passes.
In 2026 the $60 Weekend Camper membership included entry for the weekend, a wristband, and a light breakfast and cookout-style dinner. You bring your own tent, bedding, lunch and snacks.
No date has been announced for the next camp yet. The last three camps ran in late September or early October, but the date and campground are set each year, so check the official page before planning travel.
