Did You Know?

  • *Each FurWalk visits a different NYC landmark, across 17 numbered editions the series has hit the Brooklyn Bridge, Central Park, Prospect Park, Governors Island, the High Line, Coney Island, Fort Tryon Park, Chelsea Market, and the Financial District.
  • *The June 2026 walk (FurWalk 16) is the Pride March edition and falls under NYC Pride contingent rules: a hard cap of 100 marchers, registration required, and the march itself is 18+, though under-18s can still register as non-marchers for a free badge and cheer from the sidelines.
  • *Several editions are themed around a subway line, not just a destination, FurWalk 9 followed the (7) train to Corona Park and FurWalk 10 rode the (A) uptown to Fort Tryon Park.

NYC FurWalk

The NYC FurWalk is a free, monthly fursuit walk that visits a different New York City landmark each time. Organized by the NYFurs community, it's a guided walking tour open to fursuiters, handlers, photographers, and non-suiting friends. It's a great low-pressure way to meet local furries and see the city in good company.

What to Expect

Each FurWalk is a guided tour of a different NYC neighborhood or landmark. Check-in opens first (for example, late morning on the Governors Island edition) and the walk steps off about an hour later. The group makes several 15-20 minute stops at scenic photo spots before wrapping up in the early afternoon. It's mostly outdoors and photo-focused, so bring water, sunscreen, bug spray, and a light snack. Organizers run a limited support cart, and on-site registration is available with a print deadline for badges.

How to Join

The walk is free to attend, with a suggested $5-10 donation to cover badges and supplies. Dates, the specific location, and check-in times are posted per edition on the NYFurs events page and shared through the community Telegram. The June 2026 edition (FurWalk 16) is a Pride-themed walk on June 28.

How to Get There

There's no fixed venue; each walk picks a different part of the city, from Central Park to Governors Island to the Financial District. The meeting point and nearest subway stop are listed on each edition's event page, so check the listing for the walk you're attending.

Edition History

The FurWalk series runs under NYFurs, a New York furry community active since 2021, often in partnership with the NYC FurMeets team. Editions are numbered and recur roughly monthly, each at a new landmark. Recent walks have included Prospect Park (Brooklyn), Central Park, and Governors Island.
