The Energetic Convention, or TEC, is a small, free furry convention held online, with its community on Discord and most of its events in VRChat. It runs twice a year, in April and October, and its next weekend is October 23-25, 2026. The con's mascot is Tecie, a fox, and anyone is welcome, furry or not.
TEC's October 2026 edition opens on Friday, October 23 at 3 PM Mountain Standard Time and runs through Sunday, October 25. The published schedule is packed with VRChat games: Prop Hunt and Murder 4 on Friday, then bowling, Disk Wars, Light Cycle Races and Magic Freeze Tag on Saturday, followed by a Rave Night. Sunday brings Go Karts, Tanks, Putt Putt Quest and a closing ceremony, with a post-con Cards Against Humanity game after it. Admission is free, and you take part through the con's Discord and VRChat group.
The April 2026 edition ran on April 17-19.
TEC is a low-pressure way to spend a con weekend from home: it costs nothing, there is no badge to buy, and the schedule is built around games you can drop into with friends. It is small and hands-on, so attendees can host their own events or open a Dealers Den stall by signing up in the Discord and messaging the staff. With an edition every six months, there is never a long wait for the next one.
Headline rate on record. The full tier ladder for 2026 has not been published yet, so check the convention's own site before you budget.
No travel is needed, because TEC happens entirely online. You need a VRChat account, the game running on the device you want to use, and membership in the TEC VRChat group. Join the TEC Discord for announcements, then open the schedule page during the con, choose the current event and press "Join Now!" to get an invite into the event world. The step-by-step guide is on the official joining page.
There is no hotel to book: you attend from wherever you play VRChat. Note the time zone, because every time on the schedule is in Mountain Standard Time with no daylight saving, which is UTC-7 all year. Events start at 9 AM MST on Saturday and Sunday and run into the evening, so plan breaks, food and water as you would at an in-person con. Anyone who wants to attend 18+ events should complete the age verification step in the Discord before the weekend.

Recorded headline rate for this edition.
TEC's April 2026 edition ran from Friday, April 17 to Sunday, April 19, after the team updated the schedule on Discord and the website about six weeks ahead.
The October 2025 edition opened on October 24 and ran through October 26. Staff swapped the closing ceremony and the Cards Against Humanity session during the weekend, so the card game became a post-con event and the stream ended at closing.
TEC announced its April 2025 edition for April 4-6, 2025, and reminded attendees to join the VRChat group and complete age verification for 18+ events.
The October 2024 edition ran from October 18 to 20, opening at 3 PM MST with a DJ stream on the schedule. That weekend TEC moved its 18+ events into a private VRChat group with required age verification, and its 2025 reminders repeated the rule.
