Slabtown Scamper is a fursuit-friendly furry social in Portland, Oregon, held at Lucky Lab Beer Hall in the Slabtown area of Northwest Portland. Each Scamper has its own theme and runs from the afternoon into the night, with games, local artists, pizza and beer, and private changing rooms for fursuiters. Each new date is announced on the official website, Bluesky and Telegram.
A Scamper is a social mixer rather than a convention. Registered attendees get private event space, activities, changing rooms, a headless lounge and luggage storage, while the main room of the venue stays shared with the public. Past editions have offered fursuit games, an art jam, board games, speed friending, raffles for a handmade Scamp plush, and an artist alley of local vendors.
Lucky Lab serves pizza, sandwiches and snacks, with vegetarian options and few vegan ones, and wine and beer are for sale. Staff may ask guests to remove a fursuit head to check ID for alcohol. The dress code is "use your best judgement" for a public, all-ages venue, and leashes are not allowed.
Registration is sold on the Slabtown Scamper website for each event, and editions have sold out before. Past prices give a sense of cost: $15 for the first Scamper in April 2024 and $20 standard registration in October 2024, with higher tiers that added swag such as raffle tickets, a poster and a Scamper fanny pack in 2025. Each guest must be registered with their full legal name, which is checked on the day.
Refunds are available until three days before the event. Refunded tickets go back on sale, so follow the Telegram announcement channel if an edition sells out. The event is all ages, and anyone under 18 must come with a legal guardian.
Lucky Lab Beer Hall is at 1945 NW Quimby Street in Portland. The venue has no parking lot and street parking in Northwest Portland is limited, so the organizers recommend transit: TriMet buses 15, 24 and 77 and the Portland Streetcar NS Loop stop within a few blocks. From Seattle or other Pacific Northwest cities, Amtrak Cascades and FlixBus both reach Portland, and bus 77 or the streetcar continue to the venue.
No. The organizers call it an all-ages event. Minors under 18 must attend with a legal guardian, and the venue checks ID for alcohol sales.
Yes, fursuits are highly encouraged. Registered attendees get private changing rooms, a headless lounge and luggage storage.
Prices are set for each edition. Past registration cost $15 in April 2024 and $20 at the standard level in October 2024, and the organizers say the money goes into renting space, games and activities and the headless lounge.
