Frolic is the longest-running furry club night in the world. Founded March 13, 2010, by NeonBunny and Skibit, it has run continuously across four San Francisco venues: The Stud, The Eagle, Folsom Foundry, and now The Great Northern. It is the event that started the US furry nightlife scene. TAIL!, Roar, LOVEBITE, and dozens of other events across the country trace their inspiration directly back to Frolic.
Frolic is a club night with DJs, dancing, and a vendor row inside the venue. Doors open at 7 PM (for vendor browsing and arrival), the dance floor opens at 8 PM, and the event runs until 2 AM. The music is described as Modern Electronic Dance Music. Co-founder Skibit runs the visuals and projections every edition. Fursuiters historically get a discounted $15 cover.
Frolic operates on a NOTAFLOF (No One Turned Away For Lack Of Funds) policy with a hard mechanism: email [email protected] by noon on the day of Frolic and you will be added to the door list for that night. This policy has been in place since the event's founding.
The 2026 format includes a mini dealer's den inside the venue. Vendors at the August 2026 edition were Interspecies ANML, Tisc Chilly, Kink Kandi, and Your Pal Pawbs.

Each edition goes up on the front page a few weeks ahead, so that is the page to watch. No pre-registration is typically required; pay at the door.
The Great Northern is in San Francisco's SoMa neighborhood, accessible by BART (Civic Center or Powell stations) and Muni bus lines. The venue runs a void sound system designed for low-frequency clarity. Street parking in SoMa is limited; rideshare is recommended.
