Columbus Fursuit Walk
The Columbus Fursuit Walk is a free, monthly parade of fursuiters through the Short North Arts District, timed to the neighborhood's First Saturday Gallery Hop. Run as an AnthrOhio community event, it's a relaxed way to suit up, greet the crowds along High Street, and pose for photos, and you don't need a fursuit to come along.
What to Expect
The walk steps off around 6:30 PM and moves in parade formation along the sidewalks of the Short North during Gallery Hop, a busy monthly art-and-nightlife event. The route is just under a mile and takes roughly two hours. Full suits and partials are encouraged, but no fursuit is required to join. Because suiting can get hot, fursuiters are advised to bring water and, ideally, a handler.
How to Join
The walk is free, so just show up at the meeting point. Cancellations (for weather or otherwise) are announced by AnthrOhio, so check the furwalk page before heading out, especially in winter. Note the legacy "It's a Furry Thing" website is out of date; AnthrOhio is the current source of truth.
How to Get There
The current meeting point is the Arnold Statue at 486 N High St in the Short North. Street and garage parking are available throughout the district, though Gallery Hop nights get busy, so arrive early. The walk runs along High Street, the Short North's main spine.
Edition History
The Short North fursuit walk has run for years under the "It's a Furry Thing" branding (earlier editions met at North Market for a meet-and-eat before stepping off). It is now organized and documented as an AnthrOhio auxiliary event, keeping the same first-Saturday, Gallery-Hop-timed format.
