Furry8 (福瑞八奇物志) is a furry convention in Chengdu, China, held at the W Chengdu hotel in the city's Gaoxin (High-Tech Zone) financial district. It is the first Chengdu convention on FurryGuides and one of a wave of young mainland-China cons, running an ambitious full-venue hotel takeover.
As with most mainland cons, the programming, guest reveals, and ticket tiers are announced through the organizer's Chinese channels (Weibo, Bilibili, and Douyin) closer to the date. The 2026 edition, themed 虚匣伪宴, takes over the whole hotel rather than a block of function rooms.
Furry8 stands out for its format: rather than renting a ballroom, the organizer buys out the entire W Chengdu, giving the convention run of a luxury hotel with a large official activity area. That makes it a rare chance to experience a mainland-China con where the fandom has the building to itself. Chengdu also makes an easy destination in its own right, a laid-back megacity known for pandas, Sichuan food, and a big student population, so the trip pairs well with a few days of sightseeing.
By air: Chengdu has two international airports. Chengdu Shuangliu International (CTU) is the closer of the two to the Gaoxin financial district in the south of the city, while Chengdu Tianfu International (TFU) sits further out to the southeast. Both connect to the city by metro and expressway.
By transit: The venue is in the Jiaozi Avenue financial district, served by Chengdu Metro Line 1 at the Financial City area stations in southern Chengdu. Ride-hailing apps are widely used and are the simplest option for visitors without a metro card.
By car: W Chengdu is on Jiaozi Avenue in the Gaoxin High-Tech Zone, close to the ring-road expressways that circle southern Chengdu. Ride-hailing is the easiest way to reach it for anyone without a local vehicle.
