Furrstein is an 18+ furry convention staged inside a historic castle near Jindřichovice, in the Czech Republic. Organized by KRAZ z.s., it's a medieval-themed con where attendees actually sleep within the castle walls and the weekend leans into feasts, armor, and fire.
The 2026 edition finished on September 6 and sold out well before it opened, with late applicants put on a pending-approval list. No 2027 dates have been announced. The three previous editions all ran on the first weekend of September, so that is the window to watch, and the convention's Telegram channel is where it announces first.
Furrstein is a genuinely unusual con: instead of a hotel ballroom, it takes over a centuries-old castle and fort, and it commits hard to the setting. Every edition carries a medieval theme, and the programming matches, a "gustation" feast cooked by historical-fencing guilds, in-character armorers, archery, and a closing fire show. Attendees stay inside the historic buildings themselves. For 18+ furries who want their weekend wrapped in stone walls and storybook atmosphere, few cons anywhere match it.
By air: The nearest major airport is Prague (PRG); the castle is roughly 140 km southwest, near Klatovy.
By car: The Castle and Fort Jindřichovice is about 15 km from Klatovy in the Plzeň region. A car is the most practical way in (and note: this is the Klatovy-area Jindřichovice, not the same-named towns elsewhere in Czechia).
By transit: Rail and bus connections serve Klatovy from the Plzeň/Prague direction; arrange the final stretch to the castle via the convention's Telegram.
Furrstein is hosted at the Castle and Fort Jindřichovice, and accommodation is inside the historic buildings as part of the convention. There's no separate hotel block, staying on-site at the castle is the experience: the ticket bundles the room, and the only choice is whether you sleep in the fort or the castle. In 2026 the convention also opened a camping option, "Tent Town," alongside the two buildings. Room arrangements were handled through registration, which closed full ahead of its deadline.

Furrstein 2026 ran September 3-6 at the Castle and Fort Jindřichovice, with early arrival on the 2nd, under the theme "How to Train Your Dragon." Registration filled before the August 21 payment deadline, and the convention opened a "Tent Town" alongside its castle and fortress rooms to take more attendees.
The weekend delivered what the con is built around. The historical-fencing guilds SHG Mortis and SHG Royal Mercenaries staged a "How to Train Your Dragon" show written for this convention alone, then a fire performance called War of Gods in the fortress car park; the traditional Múspellheim fire burned in the castle garden on the opening and closing nights. The Viking gustation menu was served in the castle common room, archery ran in the garden, a dragon-building workshop ran in the fortress, and the musician Grit played two singing sessions. Sponsors received a hand-made dragon plush. The closing ceremony on the evening of the 5th handed out contest prizes and auctioned the convention's flags along with the knights' props.
Attendance, a charity recipient and a charity total were not published, and Furrstein has never named a guest of honour.
