Barkada FurFest is a furry convention held in Parañaque City, Metro Manila, Philippines. Its name plays on the Filipino word "barkada" (a close-knit group of friends), capturing the convention's social, community-first spirit. Now in its second year, Barkada FurFest takes place at the Sequoia Hotel Manila Bay.
Barkada FurFest returns September 5 to 6, 2026 with the theme "Birthday Bash Pizzeria," leaning into a fun, party-style atmosphere for its second edition. The hotel block opens with check-in on Friday, September 4 and check-out on Monday, September 7, giving attendees room to settle in around the two-day program. Kokuboo (Koku) is a confirmed guest of honor, with a dedicated panel covering their creative process and upcoming projects.
All five attendee tiers are sold out, from the PHP 1,699 Standard badge through the Sponsor levels. The official FAQ says Barkada FurFest will not offer one-day or onsite tickets for 2026. It is a 16+ event, and attendees under 18 require a parental consent form.
Barkada FurFest is one of the Philippines' homegrown furry conventions, built around the idea of a tight-knit friend group. The programming blends universal con staples with distinctly Filipino touches, including a dedicated karaoke room. With a fursuit lounge, talent show, fashion show, and a charity auction supporting wildlife conservation, it offers a full convention experience at an accessible price point for the Southeast Asian fandom.

From attendees
By air: The convention is in Parañaque, immediately adjacent to Ninoy Aquino International Airport (MNL), Manila's main international gateway. The airport is one of the closest in the region to the venue, making Barkada FurFest convenient for both domestic and international travelers.
By car: Sequoia Hotel Manila Bay sits along the Manila Bay area in Parañaque, accessible via the major arterial roads connecting Metro Manila. Rideshare apps such as Grab are widely used and the most reliable way to reach the venue.
By transit: Metro Manila traffic can be heavy, so allow extra time. Rideshare from the airport or city center is generally the simplest option for visitors not familiar with local jeepney and bus routes.
Barkada FurFest takes place at the Sequoia Hotel Manila Bay, which is the host venue with a dedicated room block for attendees.

Hotel-format by design, not by default
Barkada FurFest''s hotel-only format is a published policy choice. The FAQ names SMX Convention Center and Bayanihan Center, Manila''s two stadium-class convention halls, and explains the concom skipped both: "The primary reason is to pattern ourselves to international furry convention standards. Secondary is cost. SMX in particular is prohibitively expensive at this stage. Choosing such a venue would require significantly increasing ticket prices, which we want to avoid."
Furcon as official game-dev hackathon
Barkada FurFest 2026 runs an official BFF Game Jam as scheduled programming, the second edition invites "all game programmers and designers to show their skills in coding games within the jam''s constraints."
Philippine BIR tax compliance built into registration
Barkada FurFest collects Philippine TIN (Tax Identification Number) at registration where applicable, as mandated by the Bureau of Internal Revenue, and publishes the parent corporation''s BIR Form 2303 (TrEM Co.) directly on the terms page. Most furry cons abstract their corporate filings away from attendees; BFF surfaces them as part of the public Terms.
