Camp Mani-Toebeans is an 18+ furry summer camp at Camp Wasaga, a cabin campground on the south shore of Clear Lake in Riding Mountain National Park, Manitoba. In its own words it is "Manitoba's only annual furry nature retreat". Campers sleep in cabins, eat camp meals and spend a long weekend swimming, paddling, hiking and gathering round the campfire. The 2027 camp starts on Friday, September 3, and registration opens in 2027.
The camp runs over the September long weekend. In 2026 it opened on Friday evening with registration, cabin assignments and an icebreaker campfire, and campers packed up before noon on Monday. Each year has a theme. The 2026 schedule went with Star Trek: an "Away Mission" hike, a tie-dye craft session, a Jeffordy game show, an improv and games night, a variety show and a sing-along campfire. Late evenings went to the bar and gaming house, a midnight howl, a pajama party and a closing dance.
Between scheduled activities the grounds and beach are open for swimming, canoeing, kayaking and hiking. Food is provided for the whole camp, coffee is made each morning and light snacks are out all day. Cabins have beds, electricity and heating if it is needed, and the bathhouses have showers and toilets. Bring a sleeping bag or sheets and blankets, a pillow, towels, sunscreen, insect repellent and water shoes for the rocky lake bottom. The organizers suggest a sleeping pad or mattress topper, because the camp mattresses may not suit an adult back.
Alcohol is not provided, but you may bring your own, preferably in plastic rather than glass so barefoot campers stay safe. Smokers keep to designated areas, and the organizers ask campers not to wear artificial scents. Weapons and replicas are banned, and so are foam-dart guns; water guns and clearly foam LARP boffers are allowed. Quiet down after midnight, and stay on marked trails inside the national park.
Registration for 2027 has not opened, and the organizers say it will open in 2027. Watch the official site and the @mbfurcamp account for the announcement.
For the 2026 camp, a camper registration was $295 at the early-bird rate until June 13 and $345 after that. The sponsor package added a spa session on Saturday afternoon and a T-shirt for $345 early or $395 later. People who could not attend could join as a $50 supporter and get the T-shirt, a supporters badge and the con book. Registration covered the activities, the meals and a bed in a cabin, and it closed on August 14.
The camp took PayPal, Interac e-Transfer and pre-authorized debit from Canadian banks, and cash in Winnipeg. Before camp you sign the waiver and the camper agreement, and fill in your dietary needs and an emergency contact in your account. If you budget for camp alongside a convention trip, the con budgeting guide helps you plan the year.
Camp Wasaga is about 270 km from Winnipeg, roughly a three-hour drive, and about an hour north of Brandon, just west of Onanole. The organizers recommend flying into Winnipeg or Brandon and renting a car, and suggest asking in the camp's Telegram chat if you want to carpool. They also say you do not need a park pass to reach the camp.
Camp Wasaga gives these directions: follow Highway 10 north to Onanole, turn left onto PR 354 for 3.5 km until you see the camp sign, then turn right onto the gravel Reid Road for about 5 km. The entrance sign is on the right, and the road has several sharp curves, so drive slowly and watch for it.
First-timers can use the first con packing list for what to bring beyond the camping gear. The organizers point to other events in the region too, including Weekend at Munchkin's Fur Camp in Saskatchewan, Fur-Eh! in Edmonton and Furry Migration in Minneapolis.
Yes. The camp is an 18+ event, and every camper agrees during registration that they are 18 or older. Bring photo ID, which the organizers use to verify your age and identity.
The 2027 camp starts on Friday, September 3. No closing day has been published yet. Past camps opened on a Friday evening and packed up before noon on the Monday of the long weekend.
Prices for 2027 have not been published. In 2026 a camper registration cost $295 early-bird and $345 later, including meals and a cabin bed.
No. Food is provided for the whole camp, with coffee every morning and snacks during the day. Bring any particular drinks or snacks you like, and your own alcohol if you want some, since the camp does not supply it.
