Did You Know?

  • *NFD launched at the Catonium club in Hamburg on 24 April 2010 with 63 attendees, then doubled to 85 by edition 2 in December the same year, two editions in 2010 before settling into an annual rhythm.
  • *NFD12 on 31 January 2026 was the first edition at the Eidelstedter Bürgerhaus, ending an eleven-edition run at the Catonium club; capacity was capped at 200 for the venue debut.
  • *VzFaK e.V. (Verein zur Förderung anthropomorpher Kunst e.V.) runs three German events: Nordic Furdance in Hamburg, 2Dance in Hamm, and the Purple Clouds Festival in Hude, and all three open ticket sales through the same NFD Telegram channel, so one channel covers your chances at all of them.

Nordic Furdance

The Nordic Furdance is Hamburg's signature furry dance night, running since April 2010 under VzFaK e.V. (Verein zur Förderung anthropomorpher Kunst e.V.). After eleven editions at the Catonium club, NFD12 moved to the Eidelstedter Bürgerhaus on 31 January 2026, capacity-capped at 200 for the venue debut. The org also runs 2Dance in Hamm and the Purple Clouds Festival in Hude.

What to Expect

NFD is a single-night all-vibes German furdance: one floor, one buffet, a rotating DJ line-up that crosses 70s disco, multigenre, dance, and melodic hardstyle. Doors open at 17:00 with badge pickup from 16:30, the dancefloor kicks off around 18:30, and the night runs to 02:00. The Eidelstedter Bürgerhaus venue carries a bar, a dealer area, a photo booth, and a fursuit lounge alongside the main floor. Catering comes from Purps Partyservice, who have handled the buffet across multiple editions.

This is distinct from VzFaK's other event 2Dance, which is a two-night split (AfterDark relaxed-dress Friday, fursuit-focus Saturday). NFD is the all-vibes single-night format.

How to Get Tickets

Registration runs through reg.anthro-kunst.de/NFD/, where the anthro-kunst.de domain reflects the org's full name (Verein zur Förderung anthropomorpher Kunst). NFD12 sold at €58 (entry + buffet) with a +€20 Sponsor tier (small thank-you gift); further donations welcomed at the door. The Eidelstedter Bürgerhaus debut was capacity-capped at 200; check the official site and the NFD Telegram channel for the NFD13 ticket window when it opens.

How to Get There

The Eidelstedter Bürgerhaus is in Hamburg's Eidelstedt district, accessible via S-Bahn S3 / S21 to Eidelstedt station. Hamburg Hauptbahnhof connects to major German cities and is a hub for trains from Scandinavia, so Nordic furries travelling south can chain it with regional ICE/Flixtrain connections. The new venue is larger than the previous Catonium and offers improved transit access from the Hauptbahnhof.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Nordic Furdance 18+?

NFD does not publish a blanket age-door policy. The venue (Eidelstedter Bürgerhaus) is a community centre rather than an alcohol-licensed bar, so there is no venue-driven 18+ or 21+ threshold. Check the current edition's registration page for any org-set policy and note that German Jugendschutzgesetz still governs alcohol service at the bar regardless of admission age.

Do I need a fursuit to attend?

No. The event welcomes both suiters and non-suiters. A fursuit lounge is available for suiters who want to take a break from the floor.

Who runs the Nordic Furdance?

VzFaK e.V., short for Verein zur Förderung anthropomorpher Kunst e.V. ("Association for the Promotion of Anthropomorphic Art"). The same nonprofit also organises 2Dance in Hamm (a two-night April furdance with an AfterDark/Furdance dress-code split) and the Purple Clouds Festival in Hude. All three events share a broadcast calendar on the NFD Telegram channel, and VzFaK self-identifies as the operator of NFD and 2Dance on its twitch.tv/nordicfurdance channel bio.

Is Nordic Furdance related to Nordic Fuzz Con (NFC) in Malmö?

No. Despite the shared "Nordic" prefix, NFD (Hamburg furdance) and NFC (Nordic Fuzz Con, the Malmö hotel convention in Sweden) have no organisational, scheduling, or community-overlap relationship. Hamburg's Hanseatic-trade history is the source of NFD's "Nordic" branding, not Scandinavian-con community.
