The Yarra BBQ Meet is a monthly furry BBQ by the Yarra River in Melbourne. Melbourne Fur Events (MFE) has announced it on its channel, which also carries Melbourne Fur Con news, since at least 2024. The meet is all ages and runs as a Child Safe event. The next date is not announced yet.
Meets usually run on a Sunday from 11 am to 3 pm. The hosts cook BBQ sausages with meat and vegetarian options, and halal meat can be arranged if you ask a host. Normally there are no scheduled activities, which the announcements say keeps the pressure low. Group photos are taken around midday.
Past announcements suggest bringing sun protection, a coat on cold days, snacks for yourself or to share, and something to do. Fursuits are welcome. This is an all-ages furry meet, not a pup-play meet, so leave harnesses and leashes at home.
Entry needs no ticket. The organizers ask for a 2 dollar coin in the tin if you want sausages, and PayID also works. The money goes into the next meet.
The meet uses the public BBQ area by the Yarra River along Alexandra Avenue. The announcements post photos of the exact spot. If moderate or heavy rain is forecast, the meet moves to the back of the Level 2 food court at Melbourne Central.
No date is announced yet. New meets are posted on the MFE announcement channel.
Yes, the meet is all ages. Attendees under 16 must come with a parent, guardian or friend who is over 18.
When rain is likely, the meet moves to the Melbourne Central Level 2 food court. If the weather is too bad, the organizers cancel and post it on the channel.
