MAW Events, whose own expansion is "Motorized Animal Weekend", is a SoCal furry and anime social-events brand that runs two parallel programming streams: evening 18+ themed raves with rotating named editions, AND daytime car meet plus art market events under the "Motorized Animal Weekend" label. Both streams run primarily out of The Compound by Dirt Dog in Commerce, CA. At 18+ entry, the raves are accessible to under-21 attendees, unusual for the LA-area rave scene.
Note: This MAW is unrelated to Michigan Anthro Weekend, the inaugural 501(c)(3) Grand Rapids furcon launching October 2026; they share only the abbreviation.
Themed raves with full production value. Past themes include Skynet Industries Pt1 (inaugural circa 2024), Mighty Animals of the Wild West, Emo Night, and Skynet Industries Pt2 / Y2K Furry Rave (March 2026). The next confirmed edition is the Pajama Party Rave on Friday June 5, 2026 (Chiikawa-inspired), followed by the upcoming WEREWOLF RAVE (Art Market and DJ applications currently open via Linktree).
Multi-genre DJ lineups cover electronic, emo, dubstep, bass/UKG, and anime/EDM crossover. The Compound has an in-house kitchen (open 7PM to midnight) serving birria tacos and asada, and a bar open until 2AM. A fursuit lounge, dealer's den, and cosplay contest are programmed at most raves.
The "Cars, Art & Hot Dogs" series runs between raves on Saturdays from 11AM to 4PM, with an indoor art market featuring sponsor merch designs and a free sticker of the month. Confirmed 2026 editions: February 2026 and April 25, 2026.
Tickets are $25 USD via Eventbrite. Cash only at the door; no card payments accepted on-site. Buying online ahead of time speeds up the entry line. A Sponsor tier exists with skip-the-line entry, early entry before doors open, and a goodie bag.

The Compound by Dirt Dog sits at 2909 Supply Ave, Commerce, CA 90040. Driving recommended (Commerce is a freight/industrial district southeast of downtown LA, limited Metro coverage). Coordinate carpools, plan gas stops, or budget a rideshare if you plan on drinking.
Once inside, in-and-out access is not permitted for security reasons, so pack everything you need (ID, wallet, inhaler/painkillers, water) before entering. Security checks bags and IDs at the door.
A storage lounge is available for stashing fursuits and cosplay layers if you overheat.
MAW Events launched circa 2024 with Skynet Industries Pt1 as the inaugural themed rave. The brand has since expanded into a two-stream operation, alternating evening 18+ raves with daytime "Motorized Animal Weekend" car meet + art market events.
18+ for most rave events. This is unusual for the LA area where most furry rave events are 21+ for alcohol-service reasons. ID is required at the door.
The two-stream format, with themed raves AND a daytime car meet + art market series ("Motorized Animal Weekend") under the same brand. Most furry rave brands run only one cadence; MAW alternates.
No. Michigan Anthro Weekend (also abbreviated MAW) is a separate 501(c)(3) furcon launching October 2026 at the Sheraton Grand Rapids Airport Hotel. MAW Events is a SoCal furry rave + car meet brand. The two are unrelated; they share only the abbreviation.
Roughly monthly when both streams are counted. Raves run quarterly with named editions; daytime "Cars, Art & Hot Dogs" events run in between. Follow Bluesky or Linktree for the next edition announcement.
No. Cash only at the door. Buy online via Eventbrite if you don't want to bring cash, and have your QR code ready when you arrive to speed up the line.
