Faunaesthetic is a new series of furry dance parties in Hamilton, Ontario, built around community DJs and independent venues rather than nightclubs. Its first party, Genesis, took over the top floor of The Cotton Factory on September 5, 2026, and the organizers have teased an open decks night as the next event. Parties are for adults: the site sells tickets only to people 18 and over, and any event with a bar is 19+.
Faunaesthetic's tagline is "serious sound in unusual places". The organizers bring their own audio and lighting to each venue and book furry DJs, and they say they would like to build spaces with hand-designed lighting and decor from the community. Genesis had five DJs playing house, tech house, dubstep and drum and bass from 7 PM to midnight.
Genesis was alcohol-free, with free water and a refreshment bar selling Canadian energy drinks and craft sodas, plus earplugs. The FAQ explains why: the organizers want the room to be about the music and the people, and welcoming to anyone who is sober, in recovery or driving.
The dress code welcomes self-expression, including gear such as a harness or hood, but below-the-waist nudity is not allowed and footwear must be worn. Flash photography, DSLRs, recording glasses and song requests are all banned under the code of conduct, which also asks everyone to get consent before touching anyone or taking a photo.
Tickets are sold on the Faunaesthetic website, where you can check out as a guest or as a member. The organizers say running their own ticket platform lets them give customers early access to later events after their first event. For Genesis, early tickets cost $15 plus HST, later tickets $20 plus HST, and the door price was $23 cash with tax included. Tickets are non-refundable, but the organizers say they can cancel a ticket and issue a coupon toward a later event if you cannot attend.
You must be 18 to hold an account and buy tickets, and events where alcohol is served are 19+. The organizers also invite anyone who cannot afford a ticket to email them.
Each party is held in a different venue, announced on the event page. Genesis was on the third floor of The Cotton Factory, a former cotton mill turned creative arts complex at 270 Sherman Avenue North in Hamilton, with a freight elevator for fursuiters at the start of the night, a fenced parking lot behind the building and street parking. From Toronto, the organizers pointed attendees to the GO Transit Route 16 bus to Hamilton GO Centre, then HSR Route 2 eastbound to Barton and Sherman.
Yes. You must be at least 18 to buy tickets, and events where alcohol is served are 19+. Check each event page for its own policy.
It is a furry dance party with community DJs. The organizers joke in their FAQ that raves "died forever" in the early 2000s, but the format is a night of dancing to DJ sets.
No. The FAQ says you do not need to be furry, gay or queer to attend, though it "probably helps".
Tickets are non-refundable. If you cannot go, the organizers can cancel your ticket and issue a coupon toward a later event.
No date has been published yet. The organizers have teased an open decks night, so watch the events page, Bluesky and the Telegram announcement channel.
