The Triangle Area Furries Picnic is a free, long-running furry gathering for the Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill area of North Carolina. Now held at Jordan Lake, it is a relaxed day of hanging out, drawing, games, and frisbee, with grills on site for a shared cookout. The group has been active since 2008, making it one of the oldest regional furry communities in the country.
The picnic gathers at Jordan Lake State Recreation Area near Apex. Attendees hang out, draw, play games, and toss a frisbee, and everyone is invited to bring food or drink to share. Grills are available on site for hot dogs and burgers, so it doubles as a casual cookout. Fursuiting is welcome and the meet is friendly to newcomers. A May 2026 picnic drew about 29 attendees, giving a sense of the comfortable group size. Note that the picnic relocated from Pullen Park, so any older listing naming Pullen Park is out of date.
The picnic is free, so just come along and bring something to share if you can. Dates and meet points are posted on the group's Meetup page, and the group is also active on X and Facebook. The next confirmed instance is the Summer Picnic at Jordan Lake on July 18, 2026.
